help with a new TV

guys, last month we had a series of thunder storms in our area and it hosed my Apex RPTV. I need to replace but I am trying to determine what I should by. I really want an LCD and I see the prices starting to fall but not much yet. or should I go and just get a rp and wait it out. price, I got 1400 for the old one and can add more but only if its a good deal and I am buying smart

any advice either way? whats the best RP for the price
then LCD?

Thanks in advance
I already have a nice Onkyo to hook it too

With CRT based RPTV's you will get a MUCH better picture then a LCD. CRT based HDTV's still have the best picture you can buy but the DLP's are getting closer. With LCD's as well as Plasmas you get some pretty bad blacl levels that leave you with no better then dark greys instead of the deep dark blacks of CRT based TV's.

As for brands to look at I would recommend Pioneer, Mitsubishi, Toshiba, Panasonic, Hitachi. Stay away from Sony though as they have a very bad track record for big screen HDTV's. They make great Tube TV's but just seem to always have problems with CRT based ones.
