Nirvana Boxset in November

This is from davisdvd.
http://www.davisdvd.com/news/music.html

Universal Music will release a 3-CD Nirvana box set this November. The collection was originally intended for release in Christmas 2001 to coincide with the 10-year anniversary of Nirvana's breakthrough album "Nevermind." But surviving members Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic were thwarted by lawsuits from Cobain's widow Courtney Love, who objected to their planned use of the previously unreleased track "You Know You're Right." The dispute was eventually settled in September 2002, and the track was included on a compilation CD released in October 2002. A limited edition of the yet-untitled 3CD set also will be released and will include a bonus DVD featuring footage of the band playing at a 1987 house party.

Sounds cool but, does anyone know what will be on here? I know theres plenty of b-side/outtake/live stuff out there such as whats on the unofficial "Outcesticide" 8-disc boxset, so lets hope this turns out to have some good tracks on it.

A motherfucking Digipak? I goddamned hate those fucking things.

I'm sorry, but this is probably going to cost sixty dollars retail, and I don't think it's too much to ask for something more durable than a fucking greeting card.

Just a little checking, and here are some possibilities to be included:

Here She Comes Now (Velvet Underground cover)
Spank Thru (Sub Pop 200 comp)
Gallons of Rubbing Alcohol Flow Through the Strip (bonus on In Utero)
Oh The Guilt (from the Jesus Lizard/Nirvana single)
Marigold (b-side from In Utero)
Moist Vagina (from In Utero sessions)
Do You Love Me? (KISS cover)
Return of the Rat
Verse Chorus Verse (No Alernative comp)
I Hate Myself and Want to Die (Beavis and Butthead Experience)
Pay to Play (DGC Rarities)
You Know You're Right (New song on greatest hits)

No offense but isn't this a little bit of ? (with apologies to the other forum, I just had to use that smiley)

I don't mean to kick off yet another "Nirvana is overrated" argument but IMHO, 1 classic album and two passable ones do not a boxset make.

Well, that's just your opinion of course. I'd argue they made three CLASSIC albums (Unplugged, In Utero and Nevermind), plus two quite good ones (Bleach, Incesticide) and a pretty great live album. I can't wait to get this one, there's a ton of Nirvana material out there that hasn't been officially released and what I've heard is excellent, good to have out "legit" now.

Then why post comments like that if you don't want to start something?

Anyway, I'm not a huge Nirvana fan but I must say Unplugged is a brilliant show.

So if some band came around and made 1 classic album during a time where music actually was changed or influenced as well as the culture and they had a lot of unreleased material that millions and millions of their fans WANTED to have, you'd think there shouldn't be a boxset because your particular criteria hadn't been met?

Here's a smiley I like to use.

Seriously, could you use one of the other billion threads where that has been discussed ad nauseum

Back on topic. I will definitely be picking this up. And I second the digipack bitching going on in an above post.

Holy shit! Finally!

Hopefully the DVD will include all their videos. Maybe this will lead to a DVD release of Live Tonight Sold Out as well.

There was an article on billboard.com a couple of days ago which said it was being planned for a Christmas shopping season release but it had no specifics.

i hope they fully remaster teh original 4 albums, since they aren't very good sound wise. if you have picked up the greatest hits collection, you'd know htey sound amazing.

uh... nevermind is ridiculously overproduced. in utero was meant to have the edgy thrashy sound by steve albini. incesticide was a collection of rougher songs. bleach was indie, and very low budget. how can these sound any better?

He meant remaster, not remix. If they would remaster it, it would sound "louder". I put "Nevermind" on my mp3 player and I can hardly hear it because it's mastered so low.

Ahhh I thought this was to come out last Christmas season, but I'm sure the wait will be worth it.
