Is Roberto Benigni's Johnny Stecchino ever going to be releaed on DVD in Region 1?

Does anyone have any insight into whether or not Johnny Stecchino is going to be released on dvd in Region 1? It has been released on dvd in pretty much every other region in the world. Other Roberto Benigni films have been released in the US (Region 1) that were less successful than Stecchino was like Chiedo Asilo (Seeking Asylum) , and Il Monstro (The Monster). Whats even stranger is that Johnny Stecchino was released in the US on VHS, so why wouldn't they release here on dvd. I own this movie on VHS and its one of the last tapes I own. It is really one of the only reasons I still have my vcr.

It seems that as far as U.S. audiences are concerned, Benigni is pretty much a one-hit-wonder.

I caught The Monster on cable and found it pleasant enough, but I had a tough time getting through Johnny Stecchino.
Nevertheless, I would imagine that eventually it will show up on DVD.

I would love to see quality R1 releases of Benigni's work! Life Is Beautiful drastically needs an upgrade as well. What a wonderful artist he is!!!

I'm hoping that Miramax releases a 10th Anniversary Special (Anamorphic!) Edition of Life is Beautiful for Region 1 this year. An absolutely amazing film.

I have been looking for it for about six months now. I called Barnes and Noble and they told me that Johnny Stecchino still hasn't been released in the U.S. on DVD - just VHS. Does anyone know if a newer DVD player will accommodate the Region 2 DVD? Thanks. Soured on Stecchino in Syracuse.

Hi, Johnny Steccino is probably the top 5 funniest movies of all time!!!! We roared for the whole movie. I can't understand why this great classic isn't on DVD.
If you don't like this movie, you haven't got a pulse.

JOHNNY STECCINO is indeed funny but I found THE MONSTER to be funnier.

I love Johnny Stecchino and it sits on my amazon.co.uk wishlist. I don't see it getting a release here any time soon, though.
