Watching DVD's (scenes) in a forced state of altered consciousness to increase impact

Hey all....

Many times, while watching Horror DVD's (My Fav) I will dose off.....often when i wake up, i am in that "eyes open, but not really awake" state, and at this time, my disbelief is suspended, my guard is down, and what I see on the tv creeps into my sub-conscience and REALLY freaks me out.... sometimes to the point of having to shut the movie off....

Now, some of you may say beig deal, but since i am in special effects movie makeup, and have been a horror Buff for years, NOTHING scares me anymore, but with what i mentioned above, i love it because it gives me a chance to be genuinely scared......

can anyone relate?

Thanks,

Matt

Nope, although I do doze off during movies when I watch them in the afternoons. At best I get a WTF? type reaction and either rewind or fall back asleep.

I do the same thing but I like using "medicinal herbs" to enhance/change my viewing experience.

I'm with Nova....but my attention inevitably drifts toward ice cream and cheetos -- ruining any train of thought or semblance of said plot :-)

South Park being the exception of course!

KillerQ,
I know what you are saying. Most people don't let their guard down cause deep down they don't want to be scared. You, on the other hand, are de-sensitized to Horror, yet still crave the experience of being frightened. Do you ever watch a scary movie alone at night with all the lights out? That might help.

1 fatty per film increases the impact for me. hell...it could be a tap dancing movie and the next thing I know I'm tap-tap-tappin' like Fred.
