Shawshank & Seven Brides - New Editions

I was thinking of double dipping

Shawshank Redemption
Seven Brides for Seven Brothers

which are both coming out with new deluxe or special editions. Anyone know if they are worth it? Shawshank is like $45, that's more than a Criterion!

There's 2 versions of Shawshank, one with just the movie and an extras disc. The other comes with a book and the soundtrack.

It's $34 at DDD right now. The deluxe limited is suppose to include everything the SE has and also the CD soundtrack and book about the film's production by historian Mark Kermode.

I'll be picking up the deluxe limited - it's my favorite movie of all time, and it has an amazing soundtrack - Mozart's Marriage of Figaro Duetto Sul Aria -- mmm, so good.

It features a newly-remastered anamorphic widescreen video transfer with Dolby Digital 5.1 audio. Extras include a new audio commentary by director Frank Darabont, two documentaries, a recent Charlie Rose Show segment, storyboards, a photo gallery, the theatrical trailer, DVD-ROM extras and the Shark Tank Redemption spoof.
The new transfer is very welcome - the original had noticable pixelation and grain in dark areas.

I'll be buying the new Shawshank Redemption Limited Edition. I absolutely love that movie.

I agree it is a great movie but unless it is some director's cut, I'll probably pass. Almost all movies now are being reissued after a couple of years.
