Okay, I must admit, I was one of those people who made fun of synchronized swimming, and rhythmic gymnastics. But having caught them on TV now, I'm hooked. It's mesmerizing to watch and I must admit I'm impressed with the coordination, strength, creativity and endurance you need for these events.

I still make fun of "power" walking though. :D

Any non-mainstream events you found fascinating?

Don't be hatin' on the racewalkin'!

I've always found Curling to be entertaining.

Here's one I'll admit to NOT liking: basketball.

Nothing against the sport, I actually like the NBA, but I resent the amount of coverage NBC devotes to it at the expense of other sports that I get to see once every four years. It represents 2 events (counting men's and women's) out of roughly 300, but it accounts for probably half of NBC's total Olympic coverage.

I made run of race walking ("All you have to do is be the one guy who runs!") until I actually sat down and watched the sport. Now I have tremendous respect for it.

I had never seen handball like that before. It was pretty fun to watch.

Bill Nye did a superhero character called Speed Walker that was hilarious. He fought crime while staying inside the rules of the racewalking federation. I honestly have a hard time with race walking and marathons, though more guys jumping out of the crowd beating up random competitors may get me interested.

Anyway Badminton was the one I had never seen before that did interest me. I had no idea how fast that little birdie thing could travel. Kind of the same way they play ping pong at 300mph in the Olympics.

Are there any links on the net for handball clips?

Letterman just seems to love it as well.

Women's diving's very good, altough it could be to do with the girls emerging from the pool with wet clinging swimsuits on.
