Ok...he's out and survived, so I have no qualms announcing that with the first pick in the draft, the Brizzley Bears select LaDanian Tomlinson. Let's roll baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm assuming you'll be putting the picks in the first post dave?
I think that's right....just thought it might be useful for trash talking :) At least blake and spankyj are out so daryl and I can have the lions to ourselves :)

Tough call, brizz, but I like it. He gets a lot of receptions.

Like it matters anyway. He's not going to score much once all the defenses figure out the Chargers have no passing game. Brees threw an interception on his first attempt last night rotfl

And with Boerigter going down for the year for KC i'm thinking the "lot of receptions" edge for LT over Priest is now gone....that's what I get for getting Jumpy....should have waited for all the preseason games to end :(

I guess I should say i'm just more surprised at the lack of RBs taken in the first round....given that it's a 16 team league and we have to start 2.
Dabaomb
08-30-04, 01:26 PM
I'm not in this draft but I'm actually pretty shocked that so many WRs are being taken so early.
In my draft, we had like 18 of the first 20 picks being RBs. My first 3 picks were RBs (3rd overall Pick: LT, 18th overall pick: Rudi Johson, 23rd overall pick: Stephen Davis) and I almost made it my first 4 (Tiki Barber with the 38th overall pick but I passed and took Santana Moss instead).
Edit: Brizz beat me to it
gmal2003
08-30-04, 01:30 PM
If you know how to draft and know the trends of the league you can draft for talent (best available player) and not need. Vision allows you to find great sleeper picks. Its easy to say get an RB when you have pick number one. The first 8 or so RBs were locks, RBs 9-20 are either injury prone, diminishing due to age or will put out similar numbers. Youll see.

You gotta start two wide receivers too, and in this league the top flight WRs that were picked score more points than a lot of those running backs.

I looked at your settings and you start 2 WRs, 2 RBs, and a WR/RB. That said, you still need to start 2 RBs and possibly a 3rd.
There are about 20 or so RBs that are the only real RB on their team. Then the rest of the teams have a RB by committee approach or have a starter that blows (e.g. Emmitt Smith).
Most teams start 2 WRs and I know that some suck but they can always be had. There are at least 40 WRs that are pretty good and a lot more who are serviceable. In my draft (10 team league, but there's a slight difference cuz we draft individual defensive players as opposed to a team defense so defensive players are picked where potential offensive players could be taken), I was able to get Santana Moss (33rd pick), Steve Smith (48th pick), Jimmy Smith (58th pick), Jerry Porter (63rd pickl....this is a stupid pick as I had both him and Alge Crumpler in my queue and picked Porter by mistake), Rod Gardner (118th pick), McCardell (163rd pick). I realize that your league gives 1 pt per reception which can make a big difference but I don't think that you'll be able to find a good RB in the later rounds. Also, RBs are far more consistent than WRs.
Neways, this is just my theory. Feel free to disagree. Carry on with your draft.

if there was still a spot, I'd definitely be in but alas I was too late :(
Oh yeah to add to my point, here's an example. In a 16-team league, you need 32 RBs to start at a bare minimum. Now it would be nice to get Marvin Harrison & Terrell Owens with your first 2 picks. Assuming that you picked a RB with your 3rd and 4th pick you'd be lookin' at like Thomas Jones (who sucks...he's cursed I tell you...every year is his breakout year but he sucks every year), Eddie George (he's done, he was the reason why my fantasy team got third place last year), and the like. If you wait even longer to draft a RB, you'll end up with someone like Zack Crockett who you pray scores you a 1-yd touchdown or Larry Johnson (you'll pray every week for Priest Holmes's hip to go out).
I'd much rather start say Edgerin James and Rudi Johnson with say Eric Moulds and Donte Stallworth as my receivers than start Marvin Harrison, Terrell Owens, and Eddie George and some other crappy RB.
