I'm in but I got confused and left the team name as Bryant Entry, and I don't think you can change it. Meh.

You can change it. Click the "Leaderboard" tab, then "Bryant Entry", then "Edit Game Settings". I spent about 20 damn minutes looking for it. I dunno why the Leaderboard section would be the only place you could change it, doesn't make much sense to me.

Thanks...i spent twenty minutes and still hadn't found it....terrible navigation with all that. But it's par for the course for espn stuff....they're sites are always poorly organized.

Okay, I'm in, even though I suck at stuff like this. Plus, I screwed up the creation of my entry so it says "Morris Entry." Any way to change that? If so, it's probably glaringly obvious, but I can't find it.

ESPN sucks ass....I've been trying all morning to edit my picks and change the assigned values and haven't been able to. I just randomly picked the winners the other day to make sure i had something, and planned on doing some actual thinking about it and making some informed choices this morning :grunt: Now i'm only going to get 1 point for Iowa smacking ISU, while i'll be risking 7 and 8 for the Ga Tech and Alabama games :(
Stupid ESPN...what's the point of doing this if you can't handle the traffic? You'd think they would have addressed these issues by now....

Okay, I'm a 'tard. For some reason, I thought that 1 was the highest on the confidence scale (as in, "out of all the games that will go in my favor, this ranks #1"). Well, I just realized that "10" is the highest. Had I known that, my score would be much higher. Oh well, my picks tend to suck anyway...

Hey lookie, lookie. I'm in first place and I don't even follow College FB. I just pick teams based on things like funny nicknames, places I'd like to travel to, whether or not I percieve the home town as ultraliberal or not, and so forth. I'm certain my stay at the top won't last long, but I'll share my picks this week if you'd like:
10: LSU over Mississippi State. As a Cincinnati Bengal fan, I like Tigers.
9: Purdue over Illinois: I'm looking to land a job in Indy this year so my wife can finish her PhD at Purdue. Besides, I've had a couple of Boilermakers in my time -- mighty tasty!
8: Utah over Air Force: Mormons! How can you go wrong?
7: Florida $tate over Clemson: As a Cincinnati Bengal fan, I know not to pick Tigers all the time.
6: Michigan over Iowa: No real reason here, I just think Michigan will win.
5: Notre Dame over Washington: I've fought a few Irish in my day, particularly after drinking Boilermakers -- mighty feisty!
4: Virginia Tech over North Carolina State School for Blind Crippled Girls: It amazes me how many suckeke teams there are in the ACC or Big East or whatever the heck they call it, and how VT gets to pad their record by playing them all.
3: Arizona State over Oregon State: Phoenix is a hotbed of Conservatism. Oregon, of Liberalism. Go right, young man!
2: Arkansas over Alabama: Eh, who cares, they both stink. My now-dead great Aunt sent me a Razorback sweatshirt when I was 5. Go Hogs.
1: Wisconsin over Penn State: This is my one anti-pick. I'd prefer to see the Coke-bottle glass guy win this one, particularly since Donna Shallayla is/was president of Wisconsin, but I always flip one pick and assign it a single point so it won't hurt that much.

this was a really easy week of picks
although it looks like pretty much everyone missed Va Tech..
the only real differences there week were the number of confidence poitns people assigned to that game

09-26-04, 02:10 PM
yep....looks like most everyone went 9-1, except for a couple of idgits that took 'Bama -ohbrank-
kenbuzz
09-27-04, 03:03 PM
Meh! Went 9-1, missing the 4 pointer (NCSS4BCG over Va Tech), but I'm still clinging to a 1 point lead in the overall standings. Woo hoo!
Does anyone know what in the hell the tiebreaker is used for? I mean, I did pretty well (predicted Michigan would win 30-17 over Iowa, they actually won it 31-17), but I haven't a clue how its applied. Anyone?
This week's Hard Cold Lockbox Triple-A Five Star Complete Stupid-Add Guesses:
10: Green Bay over Chicago. Oops, I mean Wisconsin over Illinois.
9: Oklahoma State. I don't like the Iowa State mascot... a severed cardinal head caught in a tornado... too graphic, and too confusing ("Cyclones"???) On the other hand, "Cowboys" is so anti-PC that I gotta go with it.
8: Fresno State over LA Tech. This isn't women's basketball, and LA Tech is lousy at everything else. Heck NCSS4BCG could take LA Tech. Fresno all the way, even IF the school's name sounds like a grapefruit soda.
7: Mizzou over Colorado. Another bona fide KenBuzz "Tiger Pick". I'm undefeated so far this year in games involving teams nicknamed "Tigers".
6: Georgia over LSU. Another "Tiger" game. People tell me Georgia is better, especially at home. Others say LSU is the defending national champ. Hmmm. Oh, who cares, go with the home team.
5: Minnesota over Penn State. Joe Paterno is only a few wins away from his millionth victory. He won't see it. (pun intended)
4: Tennessee over Auburn. Don't know if the "Tiger Pick" rule applies here... Auburn's mascot is a Tiger named "War Eagle", or some such nonesense. It's enough, I like the home Volunteers, especially since TN voted for Bush and not Gore in 2000.
3: Alabama over South Carolina. Don't know nothin' about either team, and even though it's fun to say "Game Cocks", I'm sticking with the home team.
2: Virginia Tech over West Va. Va Tech looks to rebound from their drubbing at the hands of the NCSS4BCG, and WVA isn't as tough as their ranking indicates.... yeah, they beat Maryland, but Maryland only schedules basketball schools (Temple, Duke) when they're not beating up on Quakers or the Amish. It'll be a close game, since BOTH of these teams are laughable, but I think Tech will come out on top.
1: Purdue over Notre Dame. Another 1-point flip-flop. See last week.

there werent any difficult matchups to pick last week.. the va tech upset being the only blemish

Yep...last week was a gimme...this week is much tougher....3 games are total toss-ups, and a few others could go either way pretty easily....the key this week will be nailing your highest confidence scores....

True, but I don't really follow college football all that much. I mainly just see what's up with the Buckeyes and my beloved Div. I-AA University of Richmond Spiders. Also, my anti-UVA feelings run deep. I have a passing interest in all of the rest.
One reason why last week was my best one was that in previous weeks I had the concept of the confidence rankings reversed.

Oh well, all good things must end, and my 2-week stint as the #1 hombre has likewise been terminated as I drop 3 points off the pace and into 2nd place. I went 7-3, missing Fresno (8 points), Tennessee (4) and Alabama (3). I still wish I knew whether Auburn (who beat Tennessee) fall under the "Tiger" rule or not. :)

well crap..
i generally use the strategy to pick bama and against auburn in big games.. for the reverse jinx effect
it worked.. but i also put too many confidence points in fresno state
i thought i had a crappy week.. but still went 7/10.. would have been 9/10 without the jinx strategy

For those still hitching their wagons to my star:
10: Florida $tate over Syracuse. Gimme a break, Syracuse plays football?
9: Georgia over Tennessee: Georgia got me 6 last week, while Tennessee cost me 4. That's a 10 point swing, good enough for the 10, err, 9 pick.
8: Purdue over Penn State: I still think Boilermakers are mighty tasty, and Paterno STILL won't see his millionth win unless he gets new glasses.
7: North Carolina State School for Blind Crippled Girls over North Carolina: While I don't think much of teams from the ACC, I think even less of those who play football when it's apparent that they're a basketball-first school. The Tarheels are one of those, and I'd pick my high school team over them if NC ever had the courage to schedule them.
6: USC over California: I hate liberals.
5: Oklahoma over Texas: I thought that the "hookem horns" handsign was pretty cool, until I got to see how Oklahoma fans countered. They do the same sign, only they add the middle finger. I pick OU just for being clever.
4: Oklahoma State over Colorado. C'mon! Cowboys are used to russling up Buffalos, aren't they?
3: Notre Dame over Stanford: I hate Clintons as much as I hate liberals, and Chelsea goes to Stanford. Go Irish, still mighty feisty!
2: Michigan over Minnesota: No real reason here, I just think Michigan will win. Too bad there's no Tiger involved here.
1: Florida over LSU: Another retrograde flip-flop pick. LSU should rebound from last week's loss to trounce the Gators, and that's why I'm picking Florida.
