I remember it was supposed to come out last November or something, but it was delayed. I've not heard anything about it since. It's never been released here where I live at any store and I assume it's the same everywhere else.

Any word on what's happening? I know you can get something like it on ebay but it's not the same thing.

Anyone know?

It was delayed last year; last I heard it was possible for the first half of 2005 (the movie's 35th anniversary).

You can find more info at http://abbeyrd.best.vwh.net/fabnews.htm Scroll all the way down the left side of the page and hit the "Let It Be...Finally?" link.

One piece of news from February 2004:
filmmaker Albert Maysles and Apple DVD producer Jonathan Clyde discussing "Beatles First U.S. Visit," author Bruce Spizer and Matt Hurwitz. Clyde said "Let It Be" is something that's in the works and is not something Apple "is dragging their feet on. It's just that there's a lot of work to do on it."

Yeah, I didn't think they had it come out.

Oh well. Worth the wait. Hopefully they will clean up the video and sound for the release.

A Paul and Ringo commentary would be PURE GOLD, althought it will probably never happen.

I found this on Google Groups. I wonder if any of it is true.

Don't know where this is coming from, but my friend Charlie had the scoop on this one:

Just had some news in about the Let It Be DVD.

Its apparently due in March 2005 - so plenty of time to save up.

There's gonna be a 3 disc special edition, then a single disc ordinary version about 6 month afterwards.

The special edition will have all the original footage over two discs, making around 79 minutes of extra footage per disc. There may be an option to have an apple logo appear when the "new" footage is on screen. Some of the extended bits include Octopus' Garden, All Things Must Pass, Lost My Little Girl, She Came In through The Bathroom Window, Something. In fact word is there's lots of extra George footage!

Both discs feature audio commentaries from the fabs, Michael Lindsay-Hogg, Linda and Yoko, all taken from audio recordings taken at the time.

The third disc will apparently feature various documentaries including the 30 minute As Nature Intended, about Let It Be, featuring new interviews with George Martin, Billy Preston and Michael Lindsay Hogg. There's archive interviews with the Fabs, some of which was including in the Anthology, plus some "never before seen" footage.

Also on the extras disc -
Behind Closed Doors - a collecton rare footage of the fabs in the recording studio - inc And I Love Her, Paperback Writer, Rain, All you need is love, Hey Bulldog, lady madonna, helter skelter, obladi oblada, blackbird, tutti frutti/hey jude/st louis blues.

Across to Abbey Rd - abbey rd album tracks of Oh darling, She Came in Through the Bathroom window, something, maxwell's Silver hammer, all matched up to footage from Let It Be rehearsals too make video clips.
the naked truth - a featurette of the producation of let it be naked album including footage of paul at the playback session. ends with a new clip for across universe using let it be footage

The followng sections have no details as yet - chimney sweep behind the shutters ballad of john and Yoko
plus there's trailers for - let it be, Anthology, Yellow Submarine, First US visit.
no idea of packaging yet.

Well March has come and gone....

Hopefully they will get their butts in gear on this one. Pray for November?

And what about Help? A release this year would mark the film's 40th anniversary, but I haven't heard anything about a release. Why are they dragging their feet on these films?

Help! is available as a NTSC R0 import from HKFlix.com.

Beatlefreaks like me have been waiting for a decent release of this for years and years, having to settle for bootlegs bought either online or at Beatle conventions. They've been floating around on DVD on ebay for years now and I keep holding off waiting for the official release, hanging on to my VHS copy in the interim. When the 'Let It Be...Naked' audio release hit the streets I was optimistic we'd see the movie within 6 months, but that didn't happen. I'm sure none of the main players or their families' need the money, but it sure would be nice to see this get done- single disc, triple disc, the more the merrier....while I'd love to see lots of new content, I'd settle for just the movie rerelease. Instead we get stuff like Macca At Red Square.....

Perhaps the somewhat poor reception to "Naked" killed the chance of this release?
Also, this film is a somewhat negative view of the Fab's,something Apple may wish to ignore.
Apple has a history of being stingy with their stuff. Not even a disc of videos,of which there are many. The original CD releases are laughable. No online prescence.
Thank God they did justice to the Anthology DVD's.

Wannabe, this is the 1st I've read about supposed content of the DVD,and I visit Beatles sites daily.Probably just wishful thinking by someone....damn.

The Beatles sure don't seem to take advantage of all the money they can make.
Also what about those Beatles cartoons too?

The money the boys make just getting up out of bed each day is astronomical in a way I'm sure I could never conceive.....and at their age I'd say it's not nearly as important as it may have been 30 years ago.

Next month, the new "Love" cd should come out. Then new remasters of all of the albums. Perhaps 2007 for the LIB DVD?

It's been so long since I heard about this coming out on DVD that I totally forgot about it until I saw this thread title pop up again. I, like many, would enjoy owning this someday.

I am a frequent lurker (and sometimes poster) to the Steve Hoffman forums......there's some serious audiophiles over there, and much talk about the Fab Four.

The common belief seems to be that everything was held up pending resolution of the Apple v. Apple (iTunes) lawsuit which was recenly dismissed. Now, many feel that the floodgates will open with new Beatles releases, including DVDs for LIB, MMT, Help!, live concerts, etc., along with the muuuuuuuuch anticipated and ballyhooed CD remasters of the back catalog.

2007 should be a banner year!

This is by far my most wanted DVD that is still unreleased. I had heard some rumors that Paul McCartney was in no hurry to release it because he comes across like a complete asshole in it, as do the rest of the band.

Paul doesn't come off like an asshole, he comes off like a professional who is trying to make his grumpy bandmates act like a band. George is strung too tightly.

I don't care if this comes out tomorrow or never. It is truly a depressing spectacle, long and boring, and full of bad attitudes and lazy music. It shouldn't have been made.

I notice that DVD Talk is promoting this on the home page. This isn't an OAR release though, is it? The review and HKFlix.com specs say it's 1.33:1.

I would be tempted, if not for that. Hope we get a region one release soon.

There's a new 2-disc SE of Help! on the way. It'll be out before the end of the year and will have a new digital restoration, with stereo remixes (probably 5.1).

I read that people were disappointed by the 2-disc edition of A Hard Day's Night. I wonder if those same people will be disappointed by Help!
