What were your 20 favorite films?
Call me crazy but I just like to see other peoples lists and reasons they liked a certain film. Ill post mine after some thought......

It's been a while since I've updated my list. Upon looking it over, I added and removed a few movies, but I'm still not completely happy with it. I kinda want to take Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon off, but I can't really think of anything to replace it with. Lawrence of Arabia is a little iffy too. Not that I didn't like it, but I don't know if really liked it THAT much. Weird, because I generally like desert adventure movies (hence my love for the Post-Apoc genre, and The Road Warrior in #2). I think I may watch it again this weekend and see how I feel about it now.
Another little thing is that upon watching and rewatching the LOTR series, I now think I enjoy watching Return of the King and The Two Towers more than Fellowship of the Ring, but I just can't bring myself to take it off. There was something intangible about seeing FOTR in the theater for the first time, that just couldn't be recaptured with the sequels. Maybe after seeing the first movie, I just "expected" the sequels to be great so I wasn't as impressed when they were. Anyway, I'm leaving FOTR at #1 and I'll just let it stand for my appreciation for the trilogy as a whole.
Overall though, I think this list is close enough to the way I feel.

Star Wars Ep IV : A New Hope - brings back memories of playing Star Wars with my friends as a kid
Alien - First movie I watched over and over again on VHS
Raiders of the Lost Ark - Brings back memories of going to the movies with my uncle who really sparked my interest for film
King Kong (the original) - remember seeing this every Thanksgiving along with Mighty Joe Young
Ghostbusters - more childhood memories
The Lion King - Probably my most memorable Disney film.
Fight Club - just caught me off guard.
LOTR : Return of the King - awesome
Black Hawk Down - Gritty, Dirty, a true sensory assault
Unforgiven - Acting, Direction, Everything blended perfectly together to create an awesome western.
The Shawshank Redemption - one of my favorite King novellas/movie adaptations
Tombstone - A great movie with a scene stealing performance by Val Kilmer ( even though my favorite scene was when Billy Bob Thorton gets man handled)
Jaws - I knew every fact about sharks when I was young because of this film.
Memento - made me think
Leon : The Professional - Jean Reno was just a badass and Oldman was as villainous as ever
Pulp Fiction - my first introduction to QT
The Matrix - Great fusion of film genres
Spider-man 2 - IMHO may have surpassed Superman as the greatest comic book film ever
The Godfather - Pacino was great especially in the restaurant scene
Austin Powers International Man of Mystery - Got laid a couple of times because of this film (chicks dug it -go figure) and I met my wife because of this film (she was seeing a friend of mine, they came over to my place to hang out, she and I talked endlessly about Austin ( and Mike Meyer's films), Yada yada yada she blows my buddy off and we end up married.

Are there unspoken rules for this sort of thing? Like, you can only put a foreign film on the list if you have at least one Farrelly Bros or Tarantino film? I mean, I'd hate to not conform with your rules.
