The real question that arose for me after reading this tragic story was what parents in their right mind take a 3-year old to "Alien Vs. Predator"? I guess Collateral was sold out!

Poor kid
But yes... AvP in it's watered down PG-13ness is fine for most kidlets (though I'm not a fan of having them sharing a theater with me....grrr).
Hell.... my 3 & 4 year old nephews love horror movies. They're currently in love with Jaws & Freddy Krueger.

I am very sad for the parents. AvP's appropriateness for the kid aside, this just sucks. As for me, I would have used my battlefield-first-aid training to do a Leatherman™ tracheotomy on the child, using one of those massive straws AMC provides to maintain the airway.

I'll admit that the first thing that I thought of when I read this earlier on CNN was what the hell a three year old is doing watching Alien vs Predator, but regardless, it is a tragedy. Most parents I know don't allow their kids popcorn until they are about five, because of the choking hazzard.
As for these parents, if they had to spring for $20 to get a babysitter instead of taking the child with them, he would still be alive.

Oh please. AVP is PG-13. I remember seeing tons of small children at Texas Chainsaw, Freddy Vs. Jason, and other gore fests.

At the AVP screening I was at, a family wheeled in a baby in a baby stroller. They gave him corn on the cob.
