I found the trailer to be too revealing and way too long.

Agreed. They give away a lot of the movie.

Looks too much like Bully to me (although the movieboy review says it's not).

Huh? There weren't any children in Bully at all.

Not one of them was a minor when this was filmed (amongst those in explicit scenes). Just the same, I get what you're implying.

Clark isn't for everyone, that's for sure. I think "Kids" was definitely harsher than "Bully", though.

I liked both films, btw.

I don't think anyone could have made an effective, provoking trailer without spilling some plot points. Imagine if they couldn't reveal that in the trailer, what would you think the movie was really about?

Spoiler:
They could have hinted at a plot to kill him. Instead, they hint at a plot to kill him, reveal that he's dead, and so on. They should have just mentioned the plot to kill him...that would have been enough to get people to see it.

A trailer can give away absolutely no plot, but if it's well done, it'll make you want to see it. Look at the trailer for Garden State...not a word in it about it's plot, yet I'd been wanting to see it for months.

I agree with Tarantino as to when they should have stopped the plot points they were giving away, and Ive seen that kid playing the bully somewhere and he doesnt look threatening in the least, maybe annoying as hell.

the trailer is way too long and gives too much away (as said above)

this does look great though, hopefully it will play in more than a dozen theaters

trailers need to stop being 2:30 and chopped down to about 1 minute, that's all we need, not the whole SOB

I rented this movie from netflix yesterday and thought it was fantastic!!! The best movie I've seen in a couple of months. I don't think I've ever seen any other movie about teens where the characters have been so real/ natural. I's similar to Bully, but is far superior in my opinion. I was especially impressesd with Rory Culkin, who I think gave one of the best adolescence performances I've ever seen. Like I said, it seemed very real/ natural. One of the actors seemed familiar to me but I just could'nt remember from where. I looked him up and it's Scott Mechlowicz who was the main character in Eurotrip.

I highle recommend this movie to all film aficionados out there, you won't regret it. I'd put up there with Eternal Sunshine.... as one of the best movies of 2004.

If you saw the trailer you saw the movie. Save yourself the time, I rented, unfortunately, because people said it was great. My wife and I hated the movie. In my opinion don't bother. So many other good movies out there.

I guess I am somewhat in between the last two posters. I liked it but it was far from great. If you liked the trailer then you will like the movie.

I liked Mean Creek, I thought it was a good movie. The acting in it was good. I agree with purplechoe, superior to Bully.

Just saw this, and I really hate to bump an old thread, but this was a really well done film, cinematography, portrayal of youth... just gotta give a recommendation.

I have to agree with you there. I saw the trailer and was blown away, but sadly, the movie didn't really offer any other surprises. Still, a rental is still worth the price.

Hmmm, I don't know why, but I never even heard of this movie before, let alone seen the trailer, so I guess the trailer gave too much away, but I don't think that makes it something to pass on, I've seen plenty of movies where I knew the outcome, but are still worthy of watching.
