Transporter "Re-release" "Special Edition" - August 30 2005
I know there's a Transporter R2 French CE that has 3 discs (one for the movie/extras, one with the score, and one with a soundtrack) - any word on a rerelease here in the states?
I'd pick this one up, but I read that the French extras don't have subtitles and I don't speak French.
Here are the specs...
DISC ONE
The Film
Audio commentary by co-director Louis Leterrier and editor Nicolas Trembasiewicz and director of photography Pierre Morel (in French)
"Making-of" featurette (34 mins. longer than in other versions, In French and English, with no English subtitles)
4 extended/uncut fight sequence:
- "Nice pursuit"
- "Rocket scene"
- "Murder in the hospital"
- "Bus fight"
"Muzik" music video by Knoc-Turn Al
Multiangle storyboards
Photo gallery
Bonus trailers for:
- "Kiss of the Dragon"
- "Yamakasi"
- "Wasabi"
- "Taxi 3"
- "15 Aout"
- "Fanfan La Tulipe"
- "Moi Cesar"
- "Peau d'Ange, Michel Vaillant"
- "Danse Avec Mia Frye"
DVD-ROM content:
- "Splinter Cell" pc game demo
DISC TWO
CD featuring the original soundtrack score by Stanley Clarke
DISC THREE
CD featuring music inspired from the film by various artists
Subtitles:FrenchPicture format:2.35:1 Anamorphic PAL Soundtrack(s):English Dolby Digital EX 5.1
French Dolby Digital EX 5.1Case type:Special CaseNotes:Packaged in a 3-disc digipack with slip-cover.

It would be nice, as I really like the film, but I kinda doubt Fox will revisit this title any time soon. I would like to see the more violent bus fight sequence incorporated back into the film (it looks like even the French disc just offers this as an extra, like the US version).

im saying the dvd is made...just copy it and send some to the U.S.
the hard part is done...i dont understand how they could lose money by sending copies of an already made dvd overseas.

I'd be willing to bet that they will release a new DVD of The Transporter when the sequel is released.

This would have been a kind-of OK film if not for the bad American(ish) accent of Jason Statham. Hopefully he has practised on the accent for the sequel.
Maybe a Special Edition will be release to coincide with this.

This movie kicked major ass.
I don't speak French either (although i took three years of it in high school, which doesn't count as I crabbed my way through it because I had to do it) but I would love to get that 3 disc set.
I can't believe this film wasn't big. It has the three big necessities of an action film that Joe Blow would want:
1.) Cool ass lead. Jason Statham rocks!
2.) Hot ass desperate chick.
3.) Kick ass action/fight scenes
Really underrated, IMO. Deserves a better special edition.

The film did very well, the DVD sales were BIG it made a lot more on dvd than in cinemas, and it got a sequel so it shows you they made cash.
The R1 Fox dvd wasnt exactly great, single layered for godsake! just imagine how good it would look if they put it on a duel layer dvd and did the transfer to actually fill up the disc!
The film was superb, but many hate it, we are in the minority I guess, but who cares.

Fox is trying really hard to take the crown of worst DVD company from Universal. This is another ridiculous double dip that I will not be buying.
Fox Home Entertainment has also announced The Transporter: Special Delivery Edition which stars Jason Statham. Tied to coincide with the theatrical release of the sequel, The Transporter SE, will be available to own from the 30th August this year. Retail should be around $19.98. The film itself will be presented in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen, along with both English DTS 5.1 and Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround tracks. Extras will include an audio commentary by producer Steven Chasman and actor Jason Statham, an extended making of featurette, a storyboard/film comparison, extended fight sequences with optional commentary by Statham, Chasman and director Cory Yuen, a Knock Turnal music video, and the films theatrical trailer. Completing the package will be the original making of featurette, a Transporter 2 trailer, a Making of Transporter 2 featurette, an action sizzle trailer featuring a number of Fox releases, and a trailer for Ong-Bak The Thai Warrior. We've attached the official region one package artwork below:

The Special Delivery Edition will add DTS and dump the FS, plus lot more extras. It looks like a more beefed up version than current FOX's re-releases.
Hope Fox will ease the double dip with a free ticket to Transporter 2

While I'm not against a special edition with the uncut version of the movie (the Euro version is more violent), that cover is horrible. The motif isn't bad, but the copy/paste job on the head makes him look like an AIDS patient with a massive noggin...surely the Photoshop wizards at Fox know how to scale the head down to match the body?

For those of you that are region free, the R2 Japan still blows this out of the water. The movie is uncut and has a full-bitrate dts-ES track that is bad ass, plus I bet the majority of the extras are the same. The R2 Japan is by far the best edition available, if you can find it at a good price.
