HERO w/ Jet Li

WOW!!!

Could be extremely good, or could extremely suck ass.

Looks like something cross between Crouching Tiger and Last Samurai.

I see it's made by the same producers as Crouching Tiger, so that makes sense. But with a Taratino spin and starring Jet Li, it could be a kick butt film.

Tarantino is only "presenting" the film.

That means they paid him money in order to use his name to promote the film.

In this case, Tarantino it's a bit less crass: he really likes the movie and wants to help get butts on the seats.

From what I recall, if Tarantino didn't sign on to put his name on it they would have taken it and done what they usually do with Jet Li's films when bringing them over. Turn it into a pile of crap with bad dubs and so forth.

Don't forget the rap music and digitally inserting DMX.

Yeah, the marketing machine is working. A guy in line with me at BestBuy, both of us buying Kill Bill 2, got into kind of an argument with me about Hero. He maintained that Tarantino produced the movie. I tried to inform him otherwise, but he seemed content with his ignorance, and would not be convinced.

I still don't have it but have been toying with getting the Japanese disk. I've decided to wait and see what kind of reviews the R1 gets.

I saw this last year, bought the region free release (it was original), and thought it was a terribly long and boring film.

The fight scenes aren't too bad, but it is just so painfully slow and my wife fell asleep watching it (don't blame her, I dozed off a couple of times myself).

a lot of people are going to be upset when they find out that Q.Tarantino has essentially nothing to do with this movie.

I'd laugh if they did to it what MTV did to Volcano High.

Welcome to 2 years ago. This film premiered in China in late 2002 and opened throughout the rest of the world in 2003. Glad to see Miramax finally thinks we are worth in the U.S. to see it but everyone I know already has this on DVD.

An excellent film... 10/10 IMHO

PS. I think Hero is better than Cruching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, which also is brilliant.

I think Tarantino redubbed the dialogue for the movie, you know, added lines like:

"I'm going to kick your mother****ing ass with my heavenly sword now brother"
"Emperor, should I cut off his ear or his dick now?"

9 feet from a 61" screen with kick-ass DTS surround sound = Theater experience except for the sticky floors, cell phones going off, people talking or kicking seats.

this movie is awesome!

Ive read some posts that people already have it on DVD. Is that a DVD that plays in American DVD players? If so where can I get it?

No. There's no region 1 release of this movie. I have the HK 2-disc set, and it's region 3.
