Phillips 27" 27DV693R TV/DVD Combo- Any Owners And Opinions?
Hi all, a friend of mine is looking to sell his set....divorces will to that to a guy- and I'm thinking about buying it for my den. It's got a build date of September '03 and I know it hasn't been used much. Anyone own one and have an opinion on it, can tell me the pluses and minuses? Thanks

TBF, combo units are a bad idea. It's better to buy separate units. If part of the unit breaks (probably the dvd player) you will lose the use of both units while getting them repaired. Plus, you can often buy better quality units for the price of a combo unit.
In addition, unless he's bought a transferable extended warranty, the unit has probably already run out of its labor warranty and is coming up on the one year mark for the rest of it.
If you just want a set for the den and don't care if the dvd player craps out, and can also get it for a REALLY good price then it might be worth considering. Also, be sure it has connections so you can add an external dvd player to the TV if the internal one breaks.
Compare it with the price of going out and dropping $200 or so on a new 27" set and $70 on a dvd player (both of which would come with new warranties).
