Im just wondering if there has been any rumors or anything of new DVD's for these two films...they could really use a restoration and remaster...and some extras...and since TGTBATU seems to have sold quite well...will MGM rerelease these?

I think they will, TGTBATU was probably a test release to see how well it would sell. I'd be really happy to have the other two restored.

It would be great if they did!

I hope they do this too. I just got the new TGTBATU, and am still holding out for re-releases of the 2 other "blondie" movies in the series. I'm also still holding out for a lot of Clint re-issues , like Pale Rider, Josey Wales, etc. That would be great if they would start releasing a lot of those catalog titles in nice new S.E.'s.

Chances are that they will - it's be nice to be able to have a remastered trilogy.

Frankly, I'd rather see Fistful of Dynamite first.

Basaro: A loaded two disc edition of Josey Wales would be excellent... But, don't hold your breath forever on that one... It's already been remastered and re-released under the Clint Eastwood collection. Pale Rider could use a new DVD, but I'm not so sure I would wait on that one either... It's anamorphic at least.
On the other hand, new anamorphic editions of the Dollars films have to be coming at some point... The current DVDs are lame.
Fistful Of Dynamite would be great.
And while we're here, High Plains Drifter also needs a new release... Another non-anamorphic title that I would love to have in the collection. Hang Em' High, while anamorphic, also needs a serious clean up.

High Plains Drifter needs a new remasterd release badly. One of my favorite Eastwood movies.

What is the big difference between the new TGTBATU and the old DVD?

I will not upgrade. I love Eastwood movies but will not shell out the dough for remastered version. Besides, the current versions of the first 2 and TGTBATU old version don't bother me. I kinda like the grainy look and gives it a period look for when the film was made. Just my two cents, what do I know?

They restored all the Leone Man with No Name films I believe.

I have never seen any of these movies in their entirety. In fact, I've only seen a few minutes of each of them - they don't particularly work well unless you start from the beginning of the movie.
I did, however, see the first 15 minutes or so of A Fistful Of Dollars the other day, and now I REALLY want to get these movies on DVD. I'm going to hold out for remastered versions with anamorphic transfers - I'm not going to double-dip on them.
I got Once Upon A Time In the West a few months ago, and that one was pretty darned good (VERY different from American Westerns). Henry Fonda was a GREAT villain!

The new version has grown on me. The first time I watched it I was a little put off at the new sound effects. I kind of missed the old sound of the guns in the original movies, but on a second and third viewing the extended version is really excellent. I hope they do new additions of the first two films.

OK, I couldn't hold out any longer. Wal Mart had A Fistful Of Dollars for $7.00, so I picked it up. It's a darned good movie.
I got the SE for TGTBATU and I'm really looking forward to watching it - but I'd kind of like to see FAFDM first.
The one thing that kind of bummed me out was the size of the box for TGTBATU - it's significantly bigger than a regular DVD keep case. It fits on the shelf, but really sticks out. I know that's a minor quibble, but it doesn't really seem necessary for them to have made it that size.
The movie and the extras are what really count, though.
I'd also like to see A Fistful Of Dynamite get an anamorphic release before too long.

My Name Is Nobody and Fistful of Dynamite need to be released on DVD first before they worry about re-releases for all of the others. My order of priority is:
1. DVD releases for My Name Is Nobody & Fistful of Dynamite
2. Anamorphic upgrades for FOD & FAFDM
3. Anamorphic upgrades for High Plains Drifter and Joe Kidd
4. Improved transfer for Hang 'Em High
5. New SE for Pale Rider
6. New 2-Disc SE for The Outlaw Josey Wales

hey Joliom. I would buy all of those.
I just bought the Trinity box set and I am debating on openimg it or returning it as I have read reviews that the transfers are bad.

How about Pale Rider? I haven't picked up this disk yet. Should I hold out for an SE?

Depends on how long you feel like waiting. Pale Rider would probably come in behind a few others, such as Josey Wales and the Dollars' flicks. So I could be wrong, but it will probably be a couple of years off if you're waiting for something like they did with TGTBATU. If you like it, I would say get it. It's cheap (relatively), and anamorphic, though it is bare bones and the release is 7 years old so the transfer is merely OK. There's even a Josey Wales/Pale Rider 2-pack out there somewhere.
