Need the name of this 80's Car Racing flick
Ok, so I remember a movie that seemed to go like this:
A guy and his girlfriend either have this cool car, or see this car, and the guy dies (I think) or these street punks kill him or his girlfriend, and he vows revenge by racing them to their deaths in this futuristic type car or he becomes the car, or something.
Damn, I wish I could remember more....not sure who was in it or anything. I saw it in the 80's so I am pretty sure it was released then, but I could be wrong.
Anyhow, the punks he races are all badass and he just blows them away in this car and they all die or something
Anyone have any clue as to what I am talking about?

A truly great cheesy artifact of the eighties. Nick Cassavetes is hilariously over the top as the bad guy.
