DVE vs VE

So i compared the audio test tones and calibrated my system. Wow what a difference, DVE was not even close. I have heard that some of the test tones on DVE were not accurate but I did not expect it to be nearly so off.

So if this is the case are you guys still using VE or avia for audio calibration? Its ashame since i like it for the rear surrounds.

Are you talking about Digital Video Essentials v.s. Video Essentials?

I always thought DVE is a vast improvement over the VE. Bummer.

DVE is much better than VE. There are a few things bairly 'off' but nothing to warrant going back to the old VE. I can't remember where, but there is a nice thread about any of the problems with DVE on one of the HT forums.

Been researching and atleast audio-wise the census is the test tones in DVE are off, especially the sub.

The last few posts basically sum it up:

"I defended DVE for a while because the acoustics of my room made it appear correct, until Edward JM and I set out to get the hard data on it. In my opinion, all of the above objective data gives me the opinion that though DVE has some useful tests, it is essentially worthless for the average consumer to adjust either speaker or subwoofer levels. Great! I think I didn't sell my VE. Now I'm keeping both.
