Affleck, Damon Enter Reality TV Race

http://www.nbc4.tv/entertainment/358...107282004&ts=H

Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are getting into the reality-TV race.

Their production company will produce a show called "American Start-Up."

The premise -- eight baby businesses will be given $50,000 seed capital, then eliminated if they don't measure up.

It'll debut on Spike TV in mid-2005.

But unlike "The Apprentice," Affleck and Damon won't tell contestants they're fired during the 10 episodes of "American Start-Up."

Instead, a board comprised of successful entrepreneurs, tycoons and venture capitalists will guide and review the eager contestants.

Sounds like these guys have money to burn!

With season three of Project Greenlight in production, I'd say they've been running that race for several years now.

Didn't they also have another show a couple of years ago that was scrapped? Maybe I'm dreaming it.

I was just about to ask this too. Wasn't it about one person on a race of some sort, across the US, and if someone caught this guy during his race, then that person would take over and try to finish the race? Whoever made it to the finish line would win (what, I forget but it was a lot of cash, I believe).

I think they figured it would be too dangerous since the people racing might get attacked or something.

Push, Nevada. It had actors playing characters, so I didn't consider it a reality show in the same sense. I'm not really familiar with it aside from the $1m gimmick.

Hehe, I didn't know there were going to be 2 of those fugitive type shows. That's funny that neither of them made it. I thought it was a cool idea, but I knew it would be really hard to pull off.

This is the kind of format Trump should have used. Some of the challenges in the Apprentice were ridiculous.
