While not the worst movie I've seen, the biggest disapointment for me in the past year was the Cohen's "The Ladykillers". I was really looking foward to it, and pretty much thought it sucked.
I see movies on video and TV all the time that blow. I watched Eurotrip recently, and thought it was shit.

A second vote for Stuck on You. I've never walked out of a movie, and similarly, I almost never stop watching a movie I've rented. But I stopped it less than half way through--it was that bad.
Troy was pretty silly, though not too awful, and The Chronicles of Riddick was redeemed by non-stop hilarity.

Watched Hellboy last week. Dreadful. I really wanted to like it too. The breakdown:
Ron Pearlman: Excellenct casting choice, was excellent at the role
rest of cast: bottom of the barrel. Not to mention lame supporting characters to begin with.
Story, the premise sounds great, the actual story was not.
I got up to play on the computer with 15 min left in the movie to go. Watched it later. Needless to say, it took a turn from bad to worse in the third act. Reminded me of the horrible turn the Hulk took at the end.

I wonder what the definition for some people are when you say "last terrible movie". To me, if a film has a flaw or two, doesn't mean its horrible. I also wonder if people have such preconcieved ideas on what a movie is going to be like and when it is not, then they say it sucks.
Here's my breakdown (for those of you who care):
C to C-: okay, average, but failed somewhere either in execution or behind the scenes (script, casting, overall product)
D+ to D-: Severly failed in almost all areas. Little saving grace.
F: Literally compared to or maybe even beaten by backyard filmmakers.
I see some people are saying Spidey2 or Hellboy sucks. Why? B/C it was a two hour fight or you had your own idea of what it should be? To me Spidey2 is one exception here that shouldn't even be discussed here.
Some of my grades for some of the more popular movies discussed:
Spidey2: A-
Hellboy: B
Hulk: C+
Van Helsing: C
Riddick: B-
Dreamcatcher: C
Along Came Polly: C
Catwoman is the worst film of the year. D- And I even seen Battlefield Earth at the theatre, which I thought was better.
But to each their own.

I've only seen 4 movies this year (out of 133) that rankled me, 2 at home, 2 in the theater:
H. H. Holmes: America's First Serial Killer (2003)
Only reason I saw this was an urge to at least catch a few programs in this year's Chicago International Documentary Film Festival. And the director would be there to talk about it. But man, what a piece of crap. It was like E! True Hollywood Story for serial killers: full of piss-poor production values, endlessly recycled images, erroneous testimony, and a dourness that made it laughable instead of tragic. Seriously, it looked like the filmmaker used photos xeroxed out of library books. Information-wise, it barely held up to the content of a Yahoo article (and I don't mean to denigrade Yahoo either).
The Death of Klinghoffer (2003)
Who can translate an opera to film? I really want to know. Because the few I've seen have absolutely no visual panache or desire to use the elements of film to complement the opera content. Sure, the singing should remain, but please add some depth to the cinematography, or mise-en-scene to the set pieces. I'd rather the performance be filmed on-stage than restaging it with a visual style that makes paint drying exciting.
Underworld (2003)
Kate Beckinsale in leather is promising, but even that distraction couldn't save this mess. Excluding the story and plot and focusing on filmic elements alone, this movie is just dull dull dull. Far too much blue and dull and far too transparent action scenes (didn't mind the unreal CGI, just the bland staging) undermine Miss Beckinsale's fine leather-clad figure.
Strip Search (2004)
Detestable preaching hiding behind a too-thin structure premise that doubles the amount of eye rolls rather than provide any illuminating insight into "parallel" policies. And if I want to see Maggie Gyllenhaal naked I have Secretary on DVD. Edited to add: Oh, how could I forget the ridiculous framing device of ignint students "discussing" giving up their freedoms.

I second that.
It was the height of "lazy filmmaking" if you ask me. While I can not speak of anything good about the film, I could go on all day about all of the bad aspects.
I rarely "HATE" a film, honestly. If you knew me, you'd know that when I go to view a film, it is in my nature to look on the bright side of things. If I hate one aspect, I will overlook it as long as there is enough good there to focus on. That can not be done with this film, for me, however.
There just isn't anything good there at all to hold on to.

Starsky & Hutch* (I love Ben Stiller & Owen Wilson, but this disappointing comedy vehicle was poorly written through-and-through)
The Chronicles of Riddick (the more I think about it, the more stupid it gets)
[*saw both on a personal video screen on a plane. Scooby-Doo 2 was also playing and if I had watched more than 1 minute of that, it would definitely be on this list.)

The Village is the most godawful film I've seen in a while. I have seen mediocre, but I'm usually pretty good at avoiding the stinkers. The one upside is that I am more excited for Lars Von Trier's Manderlay, because despite it all, Bryce Dallas Howard was very good.

The director did a shitty job. The first two Potter movies were better. At least he won't be back for Goblet of Fire. Prisoner is my favorite Potter book and (whatever the director's name is) did a lousy job. It's not a terrible movie but very disappointing compared to the first two.

The Terminal- extremely weak plot, absolutely no chemistry between Tom Hanks and Catherine Zeta-Jones and I don't think anyone involved in the making of the film has ever been in an airport.

I completely agree. Cuaron, in "streamlining" the story, was able to more fully capture the magic of the books, actually creating a worthy piece of cinema. I was bothered by a few of the story points left out the film, but overall I think almost everyone involved did a great job. It was much more satisfying than the first two films, both as book adaptations and as films.
The worst film I've seen recently would probably have to be "Paycheck" - an awful mess of a movie that was a disgrace to the author's name.

Pearl Harbor. I'm sure I've seen plenty of bad movies since I saw this one when it first came out... but you know, I see it like this... Let's say you survive being stabbed multiple times, and then over the course of the next few days, stubbed your toe a few times... Now, if someone then asks you what the last bad thing that happened to you was, your mind would probably jump to the whole stabbing thing. I have a feeling my answer to this question will be unchanged for a long time.

I guess I'm more forgiving on movies than most. I'm surprised at the level of dislike here for movies like Van Helsing, Hellboy, and others.
I view movies as forms of entertainment first, artistic ventures second. If the movie entertains me, I'll give it at least a pass (no criticizing). If it doesn't, then I'll criticize it. If it's filmed well with good cinemaphotography, I'll praise it there as well.
For films like Hellboy, seeing how most of the criticism for that film are prior to the DC, then I can understand where the dislike comes from. I didn't really care for the TC myself either. It wasn't until the DC and some minor fleshing out of the story and characters did the movie finally make more sense.
I recently watched Elektra and thought it was alright and it entertained me once the action began in the latter half of the movie.
My theory is that if you don't like a certain genre of film, don't watch them. I see a lot of people didn't like Anchorman. Well, being a comedy, that's not one I'd watch anyway. Especially a Will Ferrel comedy.
Now to be honest, some of those late night soft-core porn flicks are pretty bad. One that comes to mind is "Bikini a-Go-Go". It's sort of a spoof on Terminator. Really cheesey in that part. Sex scenes aren't even really that good as the plot of the movie revolves around this pendant necklace that supposedly makes the wearer extremely horny.

I'm pretty forgiving as well. A movie usually has something redeeming, but in the case of Anchorman, it was billed as a comedy and starred comedians. It didn't make me laugh once, not even a slight chuckle. Therefore it failed on what it was trying to accomplish, completely, and therefore one of the worst movies I have seen of late.
As for Hellboy (I posted earlier in the thread), it had redeeming parts but on the whole it was pretty bad. I saw the TC, btw. Bad enough to warrant not even bothering with the DC.

I think I'd rent the DC for a look see, but the pacing of the theatrical cut was attrocious - I actually fell asleep on it, and if an action movie did that for me, it's failed.

I make it a habit to avoid bad films so I haven't seen the big winners in this thread like Catwoman or Elektra. but occasionally one does get by my radar. the last time that happened was Open Water. and before that Troy, although it shouldn't count because I didn't want to see it, but went with someone who did.

The last movie I couldn't finish was the awful Beloved. Awful, awful, awful.
I've "walked out" of movies that have been playing on TV, but I never had planned to see them in the first place. I also fall asleep often, since 11:30PM me is more interested in a movie than 12:15AM me.
I have yet, to this day, never walked out of a movie in the theatre. I'm also pretty good with the choices I make, so I never see anything real bad at the movies.

I though Elektra was decent but certainly not terrible. It's just not a movie I'd ever recommend.
I'm surprised to see Hellboy and Spider-Man 2 mentioned here, as I thought everyone in this forum loved those two. Anyhoo, I really like them.
The last terrible film I recall (I tend to block them out) was Princess Diaries 2. I love (and own) the first and think it's a rather charming, if simple and derivative, little film. So Was looking forward to the squel to much. Heavens did it suck! Even John Rhys Davies sucked! The only good parts are during the last 40 minutes. That's when the sequel becomes what I was hoping it'd be. Unfortunately you have to trudge through an hour of crap that is all poorly recycled from the first. And why does anyone think Raven can sing/act?
