I'm nearly done with "Sex and the City"(except for season 6, which I am holding out for in hopes the do a COMPLETE sixth season). What should the next DVD set I delve into be?
Sopranos?
Alias?
Dead Like Me?
Any reccomendations would be great

C.S.I.
Homicide
Cheers
Friends (wait for a new season release, and then buy all of them from Best Buy, as you end up getting the whole set for about $20 a season).
The Twilight Zone (original)
You didn't let us know what you already own, so I just picked the best of what I have (and intentionally omitted X Files 1-9 as I haven't had a chance to watch them yet).

I have never seen the Sopranos, so this should be great to check out. Ihave always wanted to see it.
In regards to "Sex and the City". Someone I believbe postd that it will be out in November, but are there any rumours or plans to do a COMPLETE SIXTH SEASON?
I have thought about "The Shield", but things like Child pornigraphy and spousal abuse(i.e. real issue) just make me depressed.
I have thought about CSI, is that much more cerebral than The Shield?

I second "The Dead Zone" suggestion. Watched both seasons 1 and 2 last week for the first time, and it's now my favorite TV drama series.

Sopranos
Alias would be a good one

Shield
Stargate :)
Those are the ones i'm working on. I've seen all of the Sopranos, but I just love them.

What kind of TV shows have enjoyed in the past?
If you liked Sex & the City and if you liked Seinfeld, my recommendation for your next purchase would be:
Coupling
The first 3 seasons are available on DVD. S4 just recently aired.
As for CSI vs Shield, The Shield is far more cerebral than CSI.

Let me chime in once more for The Dead Zone - although you can't go wrong with The Sopranos or 24, either. And Buffy The Vampire Slayer is also worth your time and money, if you haven't seen it.

Sopranos, Sports Night are crucial
Six Feet Under is also quite good but sometimes very different from other HBO shows (I was surprised when I first started watching it).

Seems like everyone's recommending dramas -- and most of the ones you've mentioned are also in that category -- but since you're coming off one HBO comedy (Sex and the City), why not another HBO comedy? I recommend:

Have you EVER seen The X-Files, the biggest cult show phenomenon after the original Star Trek series?

Thanks for all of your suggestions, I've limited them down to a few, so maybe that will help. I'll make my decision really soon.
1) The Sopranos-I loved "Sex and the City"(especiially the georgeus Kristen Davis and Kim Cattrall) so I'm thinking another HBO show might be in the works.
2)CSI- I have heard that while the Shield is suppose to be an overall better show, I don't think this show is as graphic, but also encopases great storylines
3)Alias- I might pick up this one up, since I love jennifer garner(who the heck doesn't), and I love spy-type drams.
4) 24- I have heard nothing but wonderful things about this show, and I love gropping drams that keep you on the edge of your seat.
5)The X-Files- I have never seen the show. I am a HUGE Star Trek fan(TOS, TNG) and I have been told that up until the last couple of seasons it was flat out incredible!!!! However, I heard that Seasons 7-9 suck big time, is this true(please no spoliers)

i wouldn't say that seasons 7 - 9 of the X-files suck though i may be biased because i am a huge fan & the x-files season 1 boxset was my very first dvd purchase - even before i had a dvd player :)
many people have problems with the last 3 seasons because David Duchovny ceased to be a major part of the show but Robert Patrick & Annabeth Gish did bring something of their own to the show.
it's just that the show was so good, many people couldn't accept Patrick & Gish as 'replacements'...
but personally i feel that if someone bothers to follow the show for 6 years in a row, then it's proper to seek closure by going the extra 3 miles & finish off with the 9th season.

If you haven't seen The Sopranos, you should definitely put that at the top of your list. CSI, 24, and The Shield are good choices as well. If you're looking for comedy, I'd suggest The Honeymooners or Reno 911.

To better help you I suggest you turn this into a poll to see what comes out on top and perhaps pick the top 2 as your next projects. I'd be curious in seeing the results.

Not saying that I won't come back to these titles later(which i probably will do) but as of right now, I have now eliminated 2 Titles from the sets.
1) Alias
2) The X-Files-This probably would have been my next purchase if this series ended when it was suppose to which was after season 6(from what I'm told). Plus with 9 seasons, that's a lot of mulla, and when I get hooked on a series(like I did with "Sex and the City" I immediately have to run out and get the next one).
The Finalists are:
1) The Sopranos
2) CSI
3) 24

Freaks And Geeks/Sportsnight/Firefly: I was actually sad at the end of all three of these, knowing I'd never find out anymore about these great characters. Especially Freaks and Geeks. And Sportsnight.
West Wing: Oddly enough, I found 24 to be rather jarring to watch all at once, which you'd think would not be the case. On the other hand both seaons of the West Wing have been addictive, forcing me from episode to episode as fast as I can
Band Of Brothers: Like a punch to the gut
The Shield: Like a punch to the kidneys
Twin Peaks: It's dirt cheap, with a great transfer. For under twenty bucks it's worth the price of admission for sex goddess Sherylin Fenn's pleated skirts alone.
