Favorite Final Fantasy Soundtrack

On the subject of favorites....I was watching G4TV the other night and they did a thing on Nobuo Uematsu which was nicely done. I wish I had the time and money so I could have attended the Dear Friends concert, put on by Disney, back in May. For those who missed it and would like to see it, G4TV is replaying that episode later this week. I don't have the specifics on date and time but check your guide. When I get home this evening I will check myself and post it. The show is called 'Icons'.

So, while I was watching the show I thought about what was my favorite Final Fantasy Soundtrack. Of course I liked them all but if I had to choose one it would have to be FFVIII's. I personally thought that was Nobuo's best work. It's funny becuase FFVIII had my favorite Soundtrack and Ending of the series, yet the game itself was one of my least favorites.

So, which one was yours?

Best Intro - FFI
Best Fight Music - FFVII
Best Fight Succeed - FFVII
Best Love Theme - FFII
Best Boss Music - FFIX
Best Demo Music - FFVIII
Best Ending Music - FFX

FFVIII's soundtrack was probably the best, especially the orchestral version of the soundtrack. FFXI had some really great melodies though, especially on the Piano Collection.

FFVIII. Which also has the best FF ending. Even if it wasn't my favorite FF.

Even though I didn't like FF8 that much, the music was great. The orchestral version is one of my favorite albums. Its brilliant.

Although 8 is awesome, 7 has to be my favorite of the series. Then again I enjoyed playing 7 much more than 8.

They've all got songs in them that I like and find myeself humming every once and awhile, but for me its a tie between FF3 and FF VII. My sister was playing FFVII recently and it reminded me how good some of the music was. I also like some of the piano pieces in FFX. I'd like to see Nobuo Uematsu do some composing for a game other than FF or an RPG, otherworld was really rockin'

On the otherhand, the all time low for the soundtrack in the series it is FFX-2.

Nobuo did the music for the Ah My Goddess movie (anime).

I love Nobuo's work and enjoy most of the music he does for FF. My favorite is FF6, even though it's all cheesy 16-bit midi stuff, I think the themes were the best. But I also like the others. There was a Final Fantasy concert here a few months ago that I attended. It was such a great experience. I hope they do that again.

Wait, G4 produced something that was "nicely done?" Can anyone confirm this?

I thought the special wasn't that great. It was nice to hear the music, but basically the article on their website said they'd be playing music from Dear Friends (thats the concert in LA) on it, but it turns out they only had Uematsu give one or two sentances about the music and then they played the music from the original game (not the concert) with some random game footage in the background.

The only piece from the concert they showed was Libari Fatali (FF8 intro) at the end (which was awesome), except they had already showed the game version a few moments earlier, so we got to listen to it twice? Yay for G4techtv! Will they ever release a soundtrack from this concert on CD? I'm begging you square-enix!
