DD Tournament Poker: No Limit Texas Holdem
I just picked this up today. Great game. AI seems pretty good and it's helping me sharpen my skills for my local game.
I was going to drop $80 for Wilson Turbo simulator but found this to be good enough to sharpen my intermediate skills. Not bad for $19 retail box.

I recently started playing on-line and for free(play money, of course). I play at pokerstars.com, the good thing about it is you play against real people. Granted, people go all in with a 7, 2 off-suit, It seems pretty good practice for your real games.

This type of practice won't help your game.

Practice in low-limit games or single-table tourneys - places where you get to see a lot of hands for not much money. That's where to work on your skills. The competition is still weak, but at least people will act somewhat more responsibly.

Anybody else bitten by the Texas holdem bug?
I recently played in a nice 10 player $50 buy-in x 3 games home tourney and I must say, that my game has definitely improved. I finished 1st place in 1st game, busted out on a bad beat the 2nd game and placed 2nd in the 3rd game. Now I'm not saying I contribute my winnings soley to the software but there is no doubt, I definitely improved my game and paid for the software many times over.
While I love DD, rather than schleping my laptop and since I don't have a PDA, I'm hoping the GBA Texas Holdem offerings (AI) will fair well. Just a nice way to see many hands during my commute.
I think I'll wait until after our next tourney before telling my friends about practicing with the software.

If you ever get the urge to play some online real money poker, check out www.pokersourceonline.com Lots of great freebies for joining and playing on poker sites. I've done almost all their promos and couldn't be happier.

I got bitten by the bug when I started watching last year's WSOP. I play everytime I go to vegas now. You can play with a $100 bucks and you can literally play for hours. It's a great game. Commerce Casino always has a bunch of tournaments some for as a little as $10 and more often than not you will see one of the big name poker players over there.

I got this yesterday, and it seems like the computer is wayyyyy to easy to bluff out. Even on hardest difficulty, I just reraise, and usually they'll drop. I've only seen the computer bluff a couple times, and it was actually only on semi-bluffs that didn't pan out. All in all I'm getting a so-so experience off of this

After some more playing, I've noticed that big hands seem to hit far too commonly. It's seems like they programmed it to be similar to televised poker in which it appears that EVERY hand is big. It can be reasonably assumed that if one has a pocket pair, they will flop the set. If they are on a flush or straight draw, and going up against a large pair, more often than not they will hit their set.
