My parents tv, a 27" 8-9 year old Sony Trinitron with gorgeous resolution and color has gone kaput! Moment of silence please...

Thank you. Anywho - My parents want to buy another tv set around the same size or slightly bigger so I was thinking of selling them my 3 year old 32" Sharp (also a great picture quality tv) for maybe $250-$300 (I paid $450) I was wondering if there are any good WS tvs for around $500-$600 or cheaper. I'm a youngun with a lot of mullah to pay a lot of bills so not a lot can go towards a tv, otherwise I was going to get a 70" Pioneer Elite Plasma (hmmmm, maybe next month). Am I being a bit too optimistic or do I have a shot at something rather decent. I'm HUGE about having all the latest gadgets and best technology but, again, funds are limited. Thanks for all advice.

Also, I've been wanting to get a projector since forever but you guys have scared me away from even looking at prices when I hear about the thousand(s) you guys spend on them. Are there reasonably affordable projectors, for example, under $500 and if so are they worth it? Thanks!

You're not going to get a widescreen for that much. Well I mean a big widescreen. The cheapest I've seen was a 26" widescreen philips for $450. But It's 26". Pretty small and when watching regular 4:3 TV the pitcure is going to be even smaller. I'd get a good 32 inch with 16:9 compression. I just bought a 32" inch Sharp with 16:9 V-compression at Best Buy for $399. The picture is awsome.

The Infocus X1 (http://www.projectorcentral.com/infocus_x1.htm) projector is dropping in price to under $900 shipped at a lot of places. Perhaps you could just save up your money for a few months and splurge on this?

That's pretty neat. I think I might just wait and get something like that instead. But it said it only has a resolution of 800x600. Are there similar models (same price range) that can go to 1200x1600 or something in that range so I can hookup my PC to it?

Not at that price point. This particular projector is considered a good home theater projector for the low price. If you want to use your PC at 1600x1200 or whatever, you're gonna have to pay $$$$$$.

Yeah, don't sleep on the Toshiba 32AF43 either. I've had mine since October and it has a a fantastic picture! It's not widescreen and it may be a little more than you might want to spend ($550?) but it is 32" with 16:9 compression. Found mine at Sears for around $550. Incidently, I got this TV to replace my 27" Trinitron that crapped out on me also.

BTW: Check out the reviews at Amazon.
