That 70's Show: Season 1

On Digital Bits...

That 70s Show: The Complete First Season is due on 10/26 (SRP $49.98) as a 4-disc set, including audio commentary on 8 episodes, featurettes, a trivia quiz, cast audition tapes, promos, a Cheap Trick music video and 2 Easter eggs.

Excellent news and hope that the music stays intact.

Edit - Digital Bits made a mistake on the release date as is supposed to be 10/26 and not 11/26 as originally indicated.

That's AWESOME, but a little weird because Cheap Trick didn't start singing the theme song until the 2nd season.

From researching the web, I found out that Todd Griffin sang the theme during the first season.

I love the "That 70's Song" music video though, which features Cheap Trick and the cast.

From: http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=1928

Crank up the 8-track and flash back to the "me" decade. That '70s Show is now shaking its groove thing on DVD! Set in the era of Led Zeppelin, Tab cola and Farrah Fawcett posters, this hilarious sitcom starring Ashton Kutcher recently celebrated its 100th episode and continues to delight fans with its nostalgic references and funny, slice-of-life storylines about growing up in the '70s.
Fox has licensed That '70s Show from Carsey-Werner-Mandabach, and has scheduled the first season for October 28th. Here's the breakdown of the discs for the 25 episode season:

Disc 1 - That 70's Show Pilot, Eric's Birthday, Streaking, Battle of the Sexists, Eric's Burger Job, The Keg, That Disco Episode. Commentary on 2 episodes (TBD).

Disc 2 - Drive In, Thanksgiving, Sunday Bloody Sunday, Eric's Buddy, The Best Christmas Ever, Ski Trip. Commentary on 2 episodes (TBD).

Disc 3 - Stolen Car, That Wrestling Show, First Date, The Pill, Career Day, Prom Night. Commentary on 2 episodes (TBD).

Disc 4 - A New Hope, Water Tower, Punk Chick, Grandma's Dead, Hyde Moves In, The Good Son. Commentary on 2 episodes (TBD).

Hello Wisconsin! Season One
Trivia Quiz
Audition Tapes: Ashton Kutcher, Laura Prepon
Promo-palooza! "Cheap Trick" video
Easter egg - script page
Easter egg - call sheet

The set will carry a suggested price of $49.98 US, and will feature a 1.33:1 picture, and English audio and subtitles.

We don't have artwork yet, but we'll post it when it's available.

This is good news for Scrubs as well. This production company hadn't embraced TV on DVD to this point. I like this show, but I can't wait for Scrubs.

Seriously, this is probably one of only a couple sitcoms I would gladly own on DVD.

The only other one I own right now is The Dick Van Dyke Show.

Hmmm ... to buy or not to buy I've watched them in syndication to the point of disinterest.

As per Digital Bits...

By the way, we inadvertently gave the wrong street date in yesterday's post for That 70s Show: The Complete First Season. It should be 10/26 (we had listed it as 11/26). We've corrected the post. Thanks to Bits reader Michael B. for catching that.

This is a show I've always wondered about, as far as if it would ever get a DVD release or not, and now it is. This is great.

My sentiments exactly - they took too long to release these.

Although the extras will probably make it worthwhile for me.

Is it that obvious?

I hate TV & loathe sitcoms the most but I just love these 2 shows. If they were barebones I probably wouldn't get either but w/ extras I can't pass them up. Plus, I wouldn't buy either of them, I'll get them as gifts.
