broadband costs around the world?
i was thinking about the cost of playing xbox live and that led me to wonder what people are paying for broadband in other countries.
i pay almost $50/month for comcast cable. no other options (dsl not available, no satellite).
what are people paying in other countries?

44.95 for Road Runner/Time Warner Cable internet
edited to add:
I remember I had been with PRODIGY dial up since the mid 90's then YAHOO, SBC, and PRODIGY merged a few years back. I wanted broadband about 2 years ago but "YAHOOSBCPRODIGY " didn't have DSL service in my area so I went with Road Runner/TIme Warner CABLE internet. Frankly I'm glad I ended up with cable instead of DSL.

$44.95 for Optimum Online (cable). It's a little pricey, but It's one hell of a bargain when you take into account the fact that AOL charges around $24.00 a month for crappy dial-up service.

50-something for Comcast cable modem service. No DSL in my area, and as long as I never call them Comcast has been okay.

Broadband is so inexpensive in Korean because the country is so small and population density so high. They don't need to run as many lines to get people signed up. Still, I do agree that broadband is way too expensive in the USA... especially the cable companies. DSL is much more reasonable.

I pay $55 for Comcast. I mean damn in the US we're really getting forked hard for how much we pay for fast Internet. If version does indeed go to 3.0 down and 758 up like I've read about I'm going to gave them a shot I mean damn for $35 that is pretty damn good.
I mean god it's like they are black mailing me I need it for porn viewing. With 56k things load so slow you get out of the mood and hurt the rhythm.

I pay 26.95/month plus taxes in TX for SBC-DSL 1.5mbps>?(ordered Online) for a year then it goes to the current rate, whatever that is now? I think it is 44.95. So, If true I will go back to RR/Time Warner cable for 2x the speed. I had Roadrunner before but decided to try DSL for that low price for 1 year...I can tell the differnce mainly in large downloads

Although here in Parkersburg i wasn't too suprised Verizon would handle me since they have an office two buildings away from my apartment.

$45 ish for Comcast. I've had it for years and it's stability is very respectable. in the past 3 years, approximately 36 hours of total downtime over 3 incidents. Not bad. Most DSL users I know have to reset their modems a couple of times a week.

$24.95/month for Verizon Avenue DSL (1500/384).
I'm moving soon and have to switch to SBC Yahoo DSL ($27/month). Freaking SBC requires a voice line, which Verizon doesn't. That effectively makes the cost > $50/month. Grrrr.

I know that in my area we have Comcast high speed internet. They have been offering some kind of package deal for like $50 a month (for digital cable and internet access). I can't quite swing that right about now so I'm going to have to pass.
In my area (Connecticut) I know that there aren't alot of places that are wired for broadband just yet. Especially out in the suburban areas.

Time Warner handles cable in our area and when I called for internet service the guy said they weren't allowed to have "cable tv/Internet package deals" because they had to carry 2 other Net services beside Road Runner. Apparently since RR is a subsidiary of Time Warner it would give RR an unfair advantage over the other service they had to carry on their lines.
Whatever...
