Entourage (pilot) [7/18/04]
Vince is a sexy young movie star whose career is just taking off. To share the fun of the ride and keep him grounded, Vince looks to Eric, Drama and Turtle, his longtime pals from Queens. Together, they share the highs and lows of life in the fast lane of Hollywood, where the stakes are higher, and the money and temptations greater, than ever before.
Not bad. I'll probably stick with it since it is only an 8 episode season.

I like it... Very decent show. Good acting, good writting, very solidly put together.
The fact that it's only got 8 episodes makes me think that HBO wants to treat the first 8 as a trial run. Based on the ratings for the first couple episodes will factor if HBO orders up more. If they're good they'll probably have a Season 1 1/2, like they've done with Sex In The City.

I wasn't planning to watch it, but I left the tv on HBO after SFU was over... Quite surprised. Excellent show, characters work well together, and an interesting setup. Looking forward to next week.

Aside from Jeremy Piven, I thought the show was extremely annoying and unfunny.
To me it seemed like all the characters stepped out of a beer commercial, and I have never been someone who hoped they could expand a commercial into a 1/2 hour sitcom.

I have to agree with Bobby, above.
None of the characters were either likable, or more importantly, the least bit interesting.
The writing was WB-sitcom level bad. And the whole thing just seemed like a concession to the 20-somthing, Maxim reading, J6P crowd.
This show would have fit well into MTV's scedule, not HBO's.

This show sucks big balls.
It will fail for this reason:
Men dont want to watch worse looking men than them score with Hollywood skanks because of their movie star buddy.
It's a bad premise, the characters aren't likeable. They aren't loveable losers who succeed inspite of themselves. The show lacks any sort of morality which doesn't bother me unless I feel that it's unrealistic.
Who are they marketing this show towards? I'm 25, college educated, caucasian male and I thought it was a snore. I found Sex in the City far more entertaining.
For one thing, Kevin Dillon is 20 years older than those guys, there is no way they would let him be a hanger on.
Furhermore, if Ethnic Shaggy haired actor guy is pulling in $2 million dollars a picture, there is no way he could afford a $10 million house on top of the Hollywood Hills, I mean they were inferring that his house was worth more than Piece Brosnan's.
It was as if the show took place in some sort of vacuum, perhaps Marky Mark finds this kind of crap funny, but I will only be tuning in again because it falls between Ali G and SFU.

As for the style of show, it's not a sitcom; it's arguably not even a comedy. Treating it as such doens't make much sense to me.

I thought it was alright, and will definitely be giving it a second viewing. I could see this show going either way, so I'll give it a second shot. I almost didn't give Deadwood a second viewing, and what a mistake that would have been.

Certainly not up to the quality standards one would expect from HBO, but who cares? I enjoyed it. It has an interesting premise and plays off it well. I'm not exactly sure we're supposed to like the characters, that might be the point.

That's from HBOs website.
So apparantly if HBO is calling it a Comedy, and none of us laughed, the show sucks ass in my book.
There is one reason it will suceed that trumps the long list you've posted. It is on HBO. Gratuitous nudity on a level unavailable outside of a porno channel is a foregone conclusion.

There is a reason it only got a run of 8 shows whereas Deadwood (At a MUCH higher budget) got 13.

Oz was critically acclaimed. I have to see if this show was *Looks*
Fine, the Critics liked it. I'll bet on it lasting only one season.

Despite the tepid ratings for its first episode, HBO is still expected to order a second season of the Hollywood comedy "Entourage."
Perhaps encouraged by a number of critical raves, HBO will announce the renewal on Thursday at the premium cable network's Television Critics Association session. According to The Hollywood Reporter, plans for the second season were set into motion before Sunday's (July 18) premiere. The trade paper cites sources suggesting that the Sunday numbers for "Entourage" won't have any bearing on the renewal.
Perhaps that's a good thing for the series, from executive producer Mark Wahlberg. "Entourage" drew only 1.89 million viewers for its first airing, well behind Sunday night companion "Six Feet Under," which had an audience of 3.66 million. "Entourage" also failed to outdraw the Saturday night screening of the feature "S.W.A.T," which had 2.96 million viewers.
"Entourage," loosely based on Wahlberg's own Hollywood experiences, stars Adrian Grenier as a hot young actor on the cusp of stardom, leaving the good life with his childhood friends (played by Kevin Connolly and Jerry Ferrara) and his struggling actor brother (Kevin Dillon).
If HBO still decides to stand behind "Entourage" even with the disappointing opening numbers, it will mark one of the network's earliest series renewals. "Six Feet Under" earned its second season even before its first episode aired, while the network only made "Deadwood" sweat it out for two weeks before picking up the second season.

Figure w this show ending this upcoming week, and since its a semi tradition to bump pilot threads of older shows
