my a/v reciever is stuck on bypass.

the manual tells how to turn it on, but it will not turn off or unbypass.

i don't know how it got into bypass mode in the beginning!

system reset will not work for some reaosn either.

ugh....

Try page 25 of your owners manual or this link

i've read through that countless times already.

i try hitting any of the surround buttons on the reciever and the surround selector on the remote, however nothing responds.

Try unplugging it for a few minutes and see if that clears it, otherwise it maybe a problem with the unit.

I seem to remember my H/K being able to be reset...yea here it is. Now this is for my H/K AVR 120, don't know if it would be exactly the same same on yours:

As mentioned, try unplugging for 3 minutes. If that doesn't work you could try this reset. But like I say, I it is really for the avr 120

With receiver in standby mode press and hold the Tone Mode button and FM MODE SELECTOR buttons for 3 seconds. The unit will turn on automatically and display the RESET message in the display.

Again, this is for my AVR 120. I did not see a reset in the manual of your AVR 65.

Finally, you might e-mail H/K directly. I have twice and gotten replies in a day or two.
