Recommend a good camping horror movie available on DVD

Hey everyone,

Taking the wife camping next week in our trusty old tent. To give our trip the proper atmosphere it needs I need to preface the trip with a very scary movie about something terrible happening to campers. Gore or jump-out-of-your-seat terror are both OK.

Any suggestions? The horror genre is simply not my area of expertise.

Thanks

The minute I read your post I thought of "Cabin Fever". I think "Wrong Turn" would fit the bill pretty well too, but CF might be a little better quality scare. Not really campers, but woods and the same type atmosphere. Of course, along the same lines we have "Texas Chainsaw Massacre", "House of 1,000 Corpses", "The Last House on the Left", "The Hills Have Eyes"...all pretty campy if you know what I mean!

The Blair Witch Project would be my suggestion.

I was gonna recommend Sleepaway Camp... but you wanted "good" movies

You can always show her the first part of Dog Soldiers.

Evil Dead is another "campers in a cabin" horror movie.

But, I like caiman's suggestion of Blair Witch Project. Then, you can actually mess with her during the camping trip. Just gather some twigs and rocks and have some fun

thanks everyone for the suggestions. I think I'll go with blair witch and cabin fever. we've already seen sleepaway, have the set on dvd.... the ending to the first sleepaway redeems the entire film...

Very true

Just be careful if you decide to get this title. Don't confuse it with the Christopher Walken movie with the same name. No mutant bears in that one.

Although Sleep away camp may not be the greatest movie, it deffinitly has one of scarriest and grusome scenes at the end. It is worth renting just for the end.
