2004: Year of the Reissue (for me)
At the Close of Every Day - "zalig zijn de armen van geest"
Originally released in 2002 in the Netherlands
Reissued by Loose Thread
(recommended for Pedro the Lion fans)
site
Camera Obscura - "Biggest Bluest Hi-Fi"
Originally released on on Andmoresound in 2002
Reissued by Merge
(I'd recommend picking up their latest before this one. But still nice stuff.)
site
Concretes - ST
Originally released on Licking Fingers in April 2004
Reissued by Astralwerks
(recommended for all pop fans. discussed previously in this thread )
site
Nina Nastasia - "Dogs"
Originally released on Socialist in 2002
Reissued by Touch and Go
(recommended for fans of her other stuff, and really, for anyone. the best CD I've heard this year, by far.)
4 is not a huge number of reissues in the grand scheme of things, but these all stand out, at least in my world. I also figure they're likely to slip under our collective radar if we don't talk them up a bit.
There are mp3s at all of the sites linked above.

The only re-issue I've bought so far is the James Brown - Live at the Apollo, 1969, but it does seem like a lot of quality stuff has gotten the treatment.
