FOX Gives Birth to More 'Quintuplets'

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) FOX's move to year-round programming has paid its first dividend. The network has given a full-season order to its summer sitcom "Quintuplets."
The series, which stars Andy Richter and Rebecca Creskoff as the harried parents of teenage quints, has overcome mostly negative reviews to perform solidly in its first five weeks on the air. It's averaging about 6 million viewers per week and combines with "That '70s Show" to win its Wednesday-night hour in the young-adult demographic FOX cares about most.
"For the past five seasons, no series that we have placed behind 'That '70s Show' has equaled or surpassed that series' ratings each week until 'Quintuplets,'" FOX Entertainment president Gail Berman says in a statement. "Everything about the two series is compatible, and we're looking forward to presenting them as a successful comedy block come fall."
Of course, the ratings "Quintuplets" is equaling or surpassing are for repeats of "That '70s Show," but the network is happy nonetheless.
"Quintuplets" is the first of FOX's summer shows to get a full-season order. Berman told reporters Thursday (July 15) at the TV Critics Association press tour that "Method & Red" also looks good for a pickup, while "The Jury" and "The Casino" won't extend into the fall. She hasn't made a decision yet on the drama "North Shore," which has performed steadily on Monday nights but hasn't broken out.
FOX's biggest show of the season thus far, "The Simple Life 2," will wrap up its run later this summer as planned.

I have been watching this show, and while it's not the greatest it is growing on me. Andy is a lot better in his role as the father, and the quints are pretty good too. I will keep watching if it stays a little better than average.

I think the only problem with this show is that it's succeeding because nothing else is on. Seems like 99% of the posts I read about the show sum it up as "average to below average". I've been enjoying it as well, but only because there's nothing else on. I just can't see this as a show that would have/will succeed when there is something competitively up against it.
Maybe it'll get lucky and survive past October, but I guess we'll see in a couple months.

I admit Ive watched all but one episode, but its mostly just because of Andy Richter. The show really is bad....I hate to see it succeed when so many other great shows on FOX were cancelled to quickly, yet I hate to see Andys show fail again, because he got the screwjob when Andy Richter Controls the Universe was canned....that show was comic gold. Thank God for HDNet.

It's really a sad state when a truly mediocre show like this can get a full season order so quick when a show like Arrested Development is almost constantly in jeopardy of being cancelled.
