Nightmare Alley - Have you seen it?

Nightmare Alley (1947) Adventure , Drama , Horror
Twentieth Century Fox
111 min.

Joan Blondell
Taylor Holmes
Tyrone Power
Roy Roberts
Helen Walker

Tyrone Power pulls off a creepy performance as a drifter turned carnival barker. This is such a deep dark movie and occaisonaly will air on AMC. No DVD or even video in sight.

Add this to your mental list .... Oh wait he plays a mentalist in this too ;-P

Has anyone else seen this?

Yes, I have. I'm in the minority when I say that I thought the novel was better (most people love this film). The movie was dark, but not as dark as the book. And the ending, well...

The author of the novel William Lindsay Gresham committed suicide shortly after finishing the novel.

I loved this as a kid, I haven't seen it since I was around 12. Freaked me out. I believe it was the first time I ever heard the word geek.

I've seen the film (recorded from AMC), but haven't read the book. I thought it was a very good noir.
