I know for a few years people have been talking about conspiracies all the time, like the league wants this team in the finals or that team, but I never bought into that. But just for fun don't you think this offseason is going to end up in the conspiracy talks? The way I see things it seems more than coincidental that seeing how much press MLB got in its offseason with the whole A-Rod saga and free agent signings like Pettite and Clemens in Houston had to have caught David Sterns eye. And what happens in the first NBA offseason after this? Shaq getting traded, TMac getting traded, Kobe becoming a free agent. For those buying into the conspiracies this all seems more than a little coincidental, dont you think?

The one moment that makes me believe the NBA conspiracy the most was the phantom foul called against Scottie Pippen on Hubie Davis of the Knicks. The worst thing for the NBA would have been for the Bulls to win a championship without his "royal airness"

And with 8 minutes left in the game (and the Bulls leading) they showed a montage of the "passing of the torch" of teams that finally lost to the rival team that would go on to the finals (Celtics to the Pistons in 88, Pistons to the Bulls in 91). Gee, wonder who was going to win that game?
In the 80's and 90's I was as big a NBA fan as anyone, but over time I noticed things obvious and not so obvious that just led me to question the integrity of the sport.

I don't understand how trades and signings are a conspiracy?

I don't think there's any conspiracy. Its not like any team that just traded a player without anyone knowing about it till it was done. And the Pistons de-throned the mighty Lakers, I'm sure Karl and Gary wouldn't of agreed to any conspiracy involving them losing.

Many believe that the lottery is fixed a lot of the time. Like when The Knicks got the first pick in 85 and selected Ewing. Or when the Bulls got the first pick after Jordan retired again. Its probably all coincidence but you never know.

Until they air the draft lottery live - I believe it could be fixed.
I'm not saying every aspect of the NBA is a conspiracy, but there is no other sport that is so heavily influenced by the powers that be. The league can only do so much though. The Pistons completely dominated the championship series. Not even a conspiracy could have helped the Lakers.
Its the little moments here and there that influences the outcomes.

It could be, but as long as the NBA loves Orlando, I'll be happy with the lottery. :D
