AllMusicGuide freak anyone else out today?
Apparently AMG got a makeover today. I think the reason it tripped me out is because I'd had the page open for several hours and it was the old layout. When I finally entered a search term, the results were brought up in the new layout. I was utterly confused. I'm not sure what my thoughts are yet as I've just begun to play around with it. Anyone else notice?

The email I got was that this is a test and you can only access it from a personal email. They said it was going to change on Monday. Maybe not? Just checked it out and it looks better for sure. The only thing I didn't like was that after you click on a band's page you have to click a second page for their albums.
They are making a lot of changes that look better overall.

Screw that.
The best change: you can open links in new windows now (most of the links on the old site were done through Javascript so this wasn't possible, at least not easily).
Worst: registration. Thank god for Mailinator.

Actually I haven't had any problems with Mozilla so far. They just claim it might not work. So far everything functions perfectly (at least on Firebird, I'm not using Mozilla proper).

yeah, maybe they blew it. they only released the "beta" two days before the full? seems to me like they've got a ton of tweaking left to do. the new features would be great... if they could manage to get the old ones to work properly!

I'm on Firefox and the alignment is messed up, the tracks don't display in the proper columns, it just looks like crap.

We apologize for the temporary connection delay.
Please click the refresh button on your browser.
Hitting refresh didnt change anything

I stumbled upon it for the first time about 5 minutes ago. I like it! I usually just search by band and it's far less cluttered looking with the new tabs. I'm using Mozilla and everything's working fine. Being able to listen to song samples was the only thing I ever thought they were missing, and now it's finally been done.

It sucks that it takes more effort to get to information now. Used to be the band's discography was listed on the main page. Now you have to click on a separate discography tab, and then if the review is long, they truncate it and you have to click another link to read the whole review. They spent too much effort trying to make it look pretty and reduced the site's usability.

Despite the site looking better, I've decided I really don't like many of the changes. I wanted to read one album review and had to click 3 pages to see the whole thing. But the worse thing is the slow speed. It's not as bad as Guzzlefish, but it's waaay worse than the older format. Bummer.

everyone who has complaints/suggestions (including myself) can and should send them e-mails. they have a FAQ on the site mentioning that they are still trying their hardest to work on and improve things. and claim to be really open to suggestions.

I found out the new guide requires IE 5.5 (which I don't have on my PC at work and I can't upgrade). The site works fine at home. Shame though, I discovered the site very recently...at work. Even on a functional PC I like the old design better.

After playing around with it for a while, all I can say is that I'm underwhelmed. I liked the old layout much better. It takes too many clicks to get anywhere. I haven't tried any of the advanced features, yet.
