Coupling - Season Finale, 7/11

OMG - the female Jeff. I swear that actress was channeling Richard Coyle. She had Jeff nailed.

Jane's video was great. Her 'how to find the clitoris' instructions were hilarious.

I thought 'Jeffina' was hilarious. She really did have Jeff/Richard Coyle nailed.

I also loved Jane's video critique of Patrick's performance. It was nice to see some closure in the Jane/Steve relationship. I can't believe the season is already over!

Agreed.

Oliver was really good in this episode. The scene where he was trying to get Jane's attention at her apartment was funny. The best part of this show was when he was waiting bed for Jane and Steve and Susan came barging in.

When Jane was dancing around, and they were showing close ups of her ass

That was my favorite part of this episode.

Wow, I didn't realize that was the season finale. I'm sorry to say I didn't think this episode was funny at all.

In fact, I thought this was a downright sub-par season overall. Maybe I just miss Jeff, but they also turned Steve into a blubbering idiot this season.

Mirrors what I see from many soon-to-be fathers.

I heard that BBCAmerica half-muted the F-bombs in this episode.

Yeah - that was kind of strange.

I'll have to watch it again with the CC on.

The F-bombs were left intact on BBC3 when the episodes were on earlier.

I've been really disappointed in this entire season. Everything seems far too wacky sitcom for me. Oliver either isn't written well enough or isn't a strong enough actor (or both) to try to pull off what they're trying for with him. And not that I mind drama, but didn't this show used to be hilarious? And using a female Jeff was just lame, lame, lame. After three great seasons, this show really feels past its prime now.

Yep. I caught like one of the three out of Sally's mouth, and the one Susan said was muted.

Was this season the weakest? Yes, I would agree. However, given how Richard Coyle was not a part of it, I was pleasantly surprised. Plus, this sitcom is still better than what you find on American television.

while many are not liking this season, i thought that it had some good stuff. from tonight, jefffina and jane's ass were fantastic!! i also thought the episode with the 4 way call was up there with one of the best of the entire series. i am waiting to see where they take the sally/patrick relationship.

All-in-all a subpar season, but it was better than I expected given the loss of Jeff.

How often do the seasons come out in the UK? Once a year or more?

The only awkward thing is that Patrick's proposal seemed to come out of nowhere. A little out of character for him.

Season 1 aired in the UK on 12 May 00 - 6 Episodes
Season 2 aired 3 Sep 01 - 9 episodes
Season 3 aired 23 Sep 02 - 7 episodes
Season 4 aired 10 May 04 - 6 episodes

so it looks like it was consistent and then slowed down for s4, probably trying to sort out Jeff's leaving and replacing etc.

It doesn't help that Steven was helping out with the remake of the show for NBC and working on a new Doctor Who series either...

I wondered about the muting as well but thought it was funnier because it seemed like she wanted to say it but it kept getting stuck in her throat! :-) I totally missed Susan's. I 'll have to rewatch.

I had the closed captioning on, so it was pretty obvious to me. The closed captioning reported Sally's line as:

F---
F---ity F---.

And Susan's as
Get me a f---ing epidural!
