Hypothetically, which two opposing players would you choose to join your team for the stretch run this year? You're not going to build your team around these guys, so picking young, unproven players might not be your best bet. You don't have to worry about giving up anything.

As a Mets fan, pitching is definitely where we need help right now (though another bat wouldn't hurt). With lefties Leiter and Glavine as the 1-2 guys in the rotation, I'll go with Jason Schmidt. He's the best pitcher in baseball right now. They also need some bullpen help. An 7th-8th inning guy is what they really need. Paul Quantrill has been lights out, so I'll go with him.

Who are your picks for your favorite team? Maybe it will help pass the time until work is over.

Brave's need a starting pitcher and a power hitter at first or left field.

I too would probably go with Jason Schmidt for the pitcher. For the power, Pujols at first would be my top choice. Realistically, trying to get Magglio Ordonez to stick a 1B or LF is more plausible, given that he comes back healthy.

Except for maybe the Astros and Cubs.......everybody needs pitching.

Is this a free for all.....or are we only allowed to pick players who have a chance of being moved?

Jason Schmidt
Carlos Beltran

Even though I don't think the Cardinals need to fiddle w/ their team chemistry too much, it MIGHT be nice to see:

Steve Finley/Carlos Beltran - to play left field and center when Edmonds needs a day off or gets hurt.

Randy Johnson - a good lefty starter would be nice.

The Twins - need a quality starter and a power hitter.

I'd take David Ortiz and Curt Schilling from Boston. That would pretty much guarantee the Yanks make it to the playoffs. :D

This is more of a fantasy question . . . take whoever you want. Guys that fill needs for your ballclubs. Or, I guess you could just grab a couple guys from your main competition.

I think the giants could use ARod and Randy Johnson... Toss in Mariano Rivera for the hell of it too...

For the Mets, I would take Randy Johnson and Pudge Rodriguez

The mets could finally bench Jason Phillips and his .217 average with no power and this would fill the biggest weakness in the lineup.

Randy Johnson would be the innings eater that this team needs. Great power arm in a rotation of soft tossers and WS experience. Though, maybe Schmidt would be a better choice because with RJ the Mets might be too left handed.

For the Yankees, gimme Eric Gagne & Jason Schmidt.

Don't you just love Felix's one pitch outside fastball. He's been fooling them all year.

I'm assuming you're talking about Rodriguez....because Heredia just lays hangers over the middle of the plate. :yack:

Well to go cosmic on us all here...I want the Derek Lowe from the past 2 years and the Nomar from a few years ago back. But to pick actual players on other teams, maybe Vladimir Guerrero and Randy Johnson.

Nomar and Lowe

The red sox need to pick these guys up, and if they can get them, they would have a shot at the playoffs.

you know
i half expected you to use a different strategy..

pick 2 big name players to help the red sox
but take them both from a team that the sox would competing with down the stretch
(not naming any specific team) ;)

Wabio already did that to the Red Sox. :) I thought about taking Rivera, but figured a team could always use a dominant starting pitcher.
