I still see the benefits of trading him, but at the end of the day, the Astros aren't as good as advertised either way.

Anyway, I love the guy, and I'm glad to see he's making the most out of his Jimy-less change of scenary.

Yeah, he was on the mound. The fans just gave him a curtain call. Just goes to show you that despite the inning or circumstances, the Dodger fans heads, aren't in the game.

for blowing that save, McKeon should pull his offer to Gagne for the All-Star game.

You know, as sucky as the D-backs season has been, there have been some great individual moments.

1) RJ's perfect game
2) RJ's 4000th K
3) Breaking Gagne's save streak

BTW, the team that Gagne last blew a save to? The D-backs, of course. :)

So if RJ had a perfect game but lost in the 9th, the fans wouldn't cheer for him? :)

Its too bad we're going to lose the 3 million fans we draw every year no matter how much we suck because the streak is over. Such a shame :(

Great game in San Diego. Clemens went 7 strong, 3 hits, 1 ER, 6 Ks, and 4 BB. But Brian Lawrence has matched him the whole way, so Roger's not in line for the decision.

There have been one or two 6th or 7th inning rallies to save him, but I don't think he has left the game without the lead and won. I could be wrong on the Colorado game where he was roughed up for the first time.

John Olerud doesnt want to play for the Red Sox or anyone else. :(

Jul. 5 - The Seattle Post-Intellingencer is reporting that Olerud declined to waive his no-trade clause after being approached by the Mariners about a trade. The Red Sox are believed to have interest in Olerud, but were not the team that contacted Seattle GM Bill Bavasi about a possible deal.
"For me to accept, it would have to be a situation where it was good for my family," Olerud told the paper. "If we were going to a place where he could go on the field to shag balls or where he could fly on the plane for road trips, that would be something I would consider."

edit: Hmmm. Now that I read it again, maybe there is still a chance.

And it would be very telling if Nomar switched to 1st for Florida. If he wanted to play 1st base, why not do it in Boston?

Mad Dawg
07-06-04, 12:26 AM
Update on the earlier Marlins/Nomar rumor. Sporting News Radio says that the Sox and Marlins are talking about a Brad Penny/A. Gonzalez for Nomar/Lowe deal.

I was as pissed as anyone when he sat in NY, but this Nomar stuff is too much. Just try to deal a couple of prospects for a #5 starter and a 1B with fielding abilities and get on with the damn season.

If McLane gets his head out of his ass long enough to pull the trigger on both Jimy and the hitting coach, I won't have time to start a thread. With the party that I'll throw, everyone in Houston will never again care about winning a World Series.

I know. What do you do about Lowe, other than laugh at him for turning down that nice contract extention before the season? This isn't the time to be trading starters or a former All-Star SS. It's about filling in the holes.
