IMPACT RESULTS – JULY 2, 2004
TNA Impact from Universal Orlando Resort opened up with the World’s Most Dangerous Man Ken Shamrock arriving at the Impact zone!
PRIMETIME VS. ALEX SHELLEY
Newcomer Alex Shelley took on Primetime in Impact’s first match, as the two X athletes traded daredevil moves in the six sided ring. Shelley proved a tough opponent for Primetime, but in the end the Team NWA member got the win with the Play Of The Day. During the bout, fellow X competitors Michael Shane, Kazarian and Traci came out to watch the match, no doubt scouting the match as the X Division continues to heat up in TNA: Total Nonstop Action Wrestling!
D’LO BROWN AND AMERICA’S MOST WANTED VS. TEAM JAPAN
Up next, it was D’Lo Brown joining NWA World Tag Team Champions Chris Harris and James Storm to face Team Japan members Nosawa, Miyamoto and Maki Inu. The bout started off with AMW beating down Inu, with D’Lo Brown later tagging in to eliminate Nosawa and Miyamoto with a daredevil dive outside the ring. In the end, Storm hit his superkick on Inu, setting him up for the Death Sentence finisher and the win for AMW and D’Lo! Following the bout, AMW’s opponents this Wednesday night for the gold – The Naturals – stole the tag team titles and took off like thieves!
THE ALPHA MALE VS. TEAM MEXICO’S ABISMO NEGRO
D’Lo Brown’s Wednesday night opponent – The Alpha Male – was up next on Impact from Universal Orlando Resort, taking on AAA’s high-flyer Abismo Negro. Once again, The Alpha Male was unstoppable in the ring, beating Abismo with his devastating “Pounce” finishing move.
Up next, we saw footage of Sharkboy and D-Ray 3000 having fun at the Universal Orlando Resort, taking a break from Impact to visit the JAWS attraction!
AMAZING RED AND CHRIS SABIN VS. MICHAEL SHANE AND KAZARIAN
Four former X Division champions were in tag team action on Impact for a preview of the big X Tag Team Tornado Match this Wednesday night! Chris Sabin spent much of the match fending off an aerial attack from Kazarian and Shane, but was later able to tag in The Amazing Red. The bout broke down into a four way brawl, with Michael Shane hitting the superkick on Sabin for the win while Red was tied up with Kazarian on the outside.
Former CBS Survivor star Jonny Fairplay made his return to TNA on Impact, appearing to make a “Open Reality Challenge” to any reality television star to fight him in a match in the TNA ring!
TNA broadcaster Shane Douglas appeared backstage with Director of Authority Vince Russo to discuss the Jeff Hardy/TNA situation. Russo wanted the opportunity to deliver a message to Hardy in the form of The American Dream Dusty Rhodes, who made his way onto the interview set. Rhodes promised he would do all he could to convince Hardy to return to TNA!
3LIVE KRU VS. TEAM CANADA
Prior to the six man bout, NWA World Heavyweight Champion and King of the Mountain Jeff Jarrett made his way to the ringside announce booth, flanked by his Elite Guard. Dennis Rodman came out with 3Live Kru, and from there it was all Konnan, BG James and The Truth. However, Jarrett took his opportunity to attack BG James with his guitar, allowing Team Canada’s Bobby Roode to get the win. Before Jarrett had a chance to do further damage, Ken Shamrock hit the ring and Impact ended with a face-off between all the competitors involved in Wednesday’s Gauntlet Match for the NWA World Heavyweight Title!
