With the immensive hype and all around great reviews (all thumbs up across the board) about Spider-man 2, how much do you think Spidey 2 will make on it's first weekend at the boxoffice?
Will it go past the $114.8 million when Spider-man 1 did on its first weekend?

I don't think it will do as well as the first Spider-Man's opening weekend because of the Wednesday opening.

Well if you mean just over the weekend then $140 in four days although I do think it can hit $180 adding in wednesday and Thursday.
a $390 for the first weekend adjust for HSXers.

It'll be interesting to see how this does. Now, before Shrek 2 I would've been saying the wednesday opening would mean this flick wouldn't top the original opening during the three day weekend. Granted, Spidey 2 will have probably a much more front-loaded opening day, but I think 120 million over the three day, and 150-160 over five days is very possible.

I figure the Wednesday premiere will be a huge opening with a slight drop on Thursday. The 3-day weekend will probably be in the 100-110 million range, with around 180 million for the 5-day take.

All the expert are predicting anywhere from 5 to 6 sexual favors to get into sold out shows. Get your facts straight.

Weekend = Friday - Sunday. At least that's the way i see it and the way the figures are officially reported.
So because of the Wednesday opening, i don't think the Friday - Sunday take of Spidey 2 will be as high as the record setting first. Not that much of a head scratcher :)

Over the weekend only = probably not. With the early opening and hype, many will see it during the week. It will probably be the biggest week of the year, however.

That's true. I should also take into consideration the studio to overestimate how many sexual favors for the weekend before the actual numbers are in to beat out the competition.

No one's mentioned yet that for most people Monday (July 5th) is a holiday too, since the 4th is on a Sunday. So that's one more day for it to rake in a bunch of cash. Then there's the midnight show on Tuesday night. I'm guessing by July 6th, Spidey will be somewhere in the $120 to $150 million dollar range.

for the 3-day weekend, I'll say 100-110 mil. Total for its run $375-$400 mil. I think the early May opening for the first movie helped a lot. Spidey 2 is now opening smack right in the middle of a busy summer movie season. Look at Shrek 2 this year- I think having an early summer opening helps a bit. Either way, I'll make sure the theaters get my money this weekend for Spidey2.

Ok.. maybe I should have made it clear in the first place.
The usual weekend covers from Friday-Sunday.
But since this coming weekend is special (July 4 holiday) you can count it as maybe Friday-Monday.
In fact, you can even count July 1st (Canada's day holiday) as another part of the weekend.
this movie is gonna make ridiculous amounts of money. I've already got my tickets for Wednesday @ 8 PM in NYC.
My predictions:
Wednesday: $30 million
Thursday: $25 million
Friday - Saturday: $120 million
Monday: $20 million
So about $195 million for the 6 day total.

I have two tickets for WED. Looking forward to it. :)
Im going to guess $108 million over the 3-day weekend & $205 million over 6 days.

well, if you follow the pattern for the first flick, Spidey made almost $40 million on Friday, $43 million on Saturday and $31 million on Sunday.
So, easily it bests it's previous record of $115 million for Fri-Sun.
Wednesday will be huge, but not like a Friday. I think probably take in like $35 million on Wednesday, $20 million Thursday and a shade more than the first did for the weekend. I'm gonna guess for the entire Wed-Sun run, $180 million.
Just for the weekend, I think it'll do $125 million.

It will make more than Fahrenheit 9/11.

Just curious if anyone went to the midnight showing what were your expectations on the film before and after. And did you feel overwhelmed by everyone's reactions?

I think Spiderman 2 will make around US$185 million from today to July 5th (the observed 4th of July holiday this year).
It'll certainly be far more than Fahrenheit 9/11, that's to be sure. ;)

Just saw Spiderman 2 yesterday. It was awesome! Great opening credit sequence!
IMO, it can easily beat the $140 million + boxoffice mark over the long weekend!
