using USB flash drive as XBOX memory unit?
Hi! I have heard that I could use my 128 mb Dell USB drive as a memory unit for my XBOX to backup my savegame data. Is this possible and if so, where do I get the software or cables I need?
thanks!
thanks!

You'll need one of these. There's not software needed. However, I've heard that not all USB drives work. I haven't tried it myself.

i'm going the route Lampei suggested.
Just placed my order last week.
Got an "item shipped" email.
Then a few days later got a "item backordered" email.
My card has been charged, so I'll just wait and see for a week or so.

If the game gives you the option to copy, then you can regarless of size. Some games do not even give you that option. The saves for Ninja Gaiden are under 100 blocks, but you still can't put them on a memory card. I don't remember if KOTOR gave the option to copy or not.

I can only assume that the developers of the games with the large save files knew the files wouldn't fit onto a standard memory card, so they disabled the file transfer feature. Are there any games that have save files larger then the standard memory card that can be saved to one of the USB drives?

I THINK dead or alive 3 gives you the option to copy even though the save files is about 2-3k blocks.

Sorry to resurect such an old thread, but I have a dilemma:
I have an xbox and a still-valid replacement warranty from BB. This weekend I want to take it back, use my 12% off coupon and get the 360 HD-DVD drive with it. I have this USB memory solution described above. I can transfer all (or at least most) of my game saves onto the USB drive, but what can I do then? I can't plug the adaptor into the new 360 console. Should I just spring for a memory card? They're bigger now, right? Or is there some new adaptor that will allow me to use the USB drive in the memory slot? Or can I just plug it into a USB slot on the console as-is (though I doubt that would actually work)?

I can't believe how much MS screwed up the issue of Backwards compatibility. People were giving Sony a hard time about needing to buy a $15 adaptor to transfer gamesaves to the HD, but at least it can be done.
