I'm guess I already know the answer to this, but figured I'd try and ask anyway (and I doubt many people will even know what I'm talking about).

From what I gather, FYE had many subsidiaries that it merged into that one name, and one of those used to be a music store called "The Wall". When you bought music from The Wall, they'd put this sticker on your case that said "The Wall. Lifetime Music Guarantee" and stated next to it "Put this sticker on the case, and if anything ever goes wrong with your CD or tape, The Wall will replace it."

My question is does FYE honor these still? I'd guess no, but there was another store from many many years ago called Wee Three Records that had the same sticker deal, and then they disappeared and were replaced by The Wall (which coexisted with it beforehand) and The Wall still honored their stickers.

Anyone know if they're still valid? Thanks!

Not sure.

But it better be! You probably paid $18 for that $12 CD.

Ha ha. ;)

I was young, what can I say. But like any other store, there were some bargains to be found, and this was many years before the internet for me. I don't think I looked for bargains in high school too often. In The Wall's later years, I had all but stopped even looking there because of their prices (I remember when Sam Goody was decently priced!).

It is my understanding that the Wall used to accept back scratched to hell discs...unbelievable policy, but they did it. Hell, you could break it in half and get a new one. I'd have to ask a friend of mine who works there part-time to see if they (FYE) does this as The Wall did.

When I worked at Coconuts in 1999-2000 (coincidentally, a store that was formerly the Wall) we did honor those stickers. YMMV though.
