Waits for obligatory "More proof that Ebert has lost it!" thread.

Yeah, I mentioned this in the big Spider-Man 2 thread. High praise considering he didn't even like the first film.

Unlike probably the rest of posts in this thread, I'll wait to see it to determine if I agree or not.

The first part of your statement completely cancels out the second part, making decisions on posts that you have not yet read.

I see the film tomorrow, and will report back that night with my thoughts. Everything I've heard from people who have seen it already says it's to Spider-Man 1 what X2 was to X-Men.

Really looking forward to the film, but a great review from Ebert does trouble me.

Now that makes it sound even more promising.

But is it better than Van Helsing and Garfield?

Well high praise from Ebert does make me look forward to this. As opposed to those who just look at his thumb and think he's crazy, i actually read his reviews, and after listening to his words on the show last week, think he's probably got the right idea. I agree largely with him on part one, so hisp raise of the sequel sounds exactly spot on.

Of course, the myriads of other reviews that have been just positively stellar really make me excited. If this is the X2 to Xmen of the Spidey movies, we're in for a badass movie. The clip they showed of the train fight looked just incredible, better than any action scene in the first one.

Plus Spidey 2 is 2.35:1 giving it a more "epic" feel. There is 1 thing about the newest TV spot that bothers me
Spoiler:
Whay is there a shot of people "body surfing" an unmasked Spider-Man

It's actually a pretty powerful part of the movie. It'll all make sense once you watch it.
Highly recommended!

It's a wonderful movie. The best of the year. Rivals X2 and EMPIRE STRIKES BACK as king of the genre follow-up...

So he got one right. He's still a lousy critic.

Why would anyone say Ebert is a lousy critic? If you don't agree with his opinions... fine. But he's good at what he does. He's thoughtful in his reviews and knowledgable.

But at the end of the day, his opinion is just one man's opinion.

Personally, I have found that I agree with his reviews the vast majority of the time. But to each his own.

I agree mostly with Ebert's reviews and I sort of agree with his review of the first one about the chessy action sequences. I think I would actually check out Garfield on video because of him.
