Groucho's Movie Challenge Week 15: One Degree of Kevin Bacon
What is Groucho’s Movie Challenge? Its mission is simple: let us all, as a forum, work to seek out films that might otherwise slip our radar. Each week, anybody who wants to participate will see a film within the guidelines, and return back to the forum to report on the film they saw. It’s easy, it’s fun, and everybody can participate. It’s not a trivia contest…it’s not a game…it’s merely a way we can all be exposed to new avenues of film appreciation…or at the very least see a good flick or two.
Week 15: One Degree of Kevin Bacon
I hope everyone had a nice week off from Groucho's Movie Challenge because we're going to get back into it with fury.
This is originally TomOpus' idea.
Select a movie from Kevin Bacon on IMDB.
Select a co-star from that movie.
Select one of their movies to watch.
Example: Selecting A Few Good Men will not only yield Tom Cruise, Jack Nicholson and Demi Moore flicks but, if you select Noah Wylie, you can watch Donnie Darko. Or select JT Walsh and you have Good Morning, Vietnam.
Try to watch a movie you haven't see yet, and come back and report to us wether your experience was positive or negative.
This is your mission. Good luck.

Nice challenge this week. Of course, this includes a ton of movies.
Here's a site with all the actors with a Bacon Number of 1. Good luck.

The oracle of Bacon! I had completely forgotten about that site. Good to see it's still there.
Here's my pick...
Kevin Bacon was in Apollo 13 with Tom Hanks.
I will be going to see Tom Hanks in The Terminal.

The Terminal
Director: Steven Speilberg
Cast:
Tom Hanks
Catherine Zeta-Jones
Stanley Tucci
A lot of people don't seem to like this movie, but I think the main problem is that we expect more from Spielberg than a light-hearted romantic comedy. Nevertheless, the movie is fun and entertaining.
I do have to ask one question though: Does a carpenter really make more money than the top INS agent at JFK airport?

Do the Right Thing (1989)
Director: Spike Lee
Kevin Bacon relation: Giancarlo Esposito
Do the Right Thing is an interesting film. It slowly builds to the climax, and in the end it just seems like a day in the life of a Brooklyn neighborhood. Spike Lee's films are usually hit or miss with me, but this one is somewhere in the middle. All I know is that he is the one to blame for introducing Rosie Perez to the world.
Verdict: Rent before you buy.
