Am I crazy? Starting to like gospel . . .
More specifically, Robert Randolph and the Family Band.

I typically try to stay away from music that preaches any type of religious message but I heard the first song on the album on a local music video program. All I could say was Wow.
Their music reminds me of BB King if he were younger and on speed. Anyway, if my church choir sounded like this, I'd probably go more often.
Is anyone else a fan of Robert Randolph?
[edit]
I just also wanted to add that I don't see anything wrong with gospel. I just haven't been a particular fan of it until recently.
And I didn't include the amazon link to encourage people to buy. I just couldn't find any other websites about the band.

I don't see anything odd or wrong with loving gospel music.
The genre is full of tremendously talented musicians and singers even if you don't care for the religious angle.
Music and religion go together and always have throughout history. Even non-Christian foreigners can appreciate gospel music just like I can love African tribal or Islamic Sufi chants.

Robert Randolph plays pedal steel guitar. He started in a church, but his music is almost completely secular now. Positive, yes, but not really religious.

My job requires me to frequently travel by car, and during a significant portion of the trip, the only radio station I can get is an old time southern gospel station. There are some great tunes on there. Some of these quartets really know how to kick up their heals and make a mighty sound.

My dad's side of the family is in the church, and they constantly listen to "modern gospel" stuff. Like you see on the late night ads with the people swaying.
And I have to truly wonder, how can songs about such a passionate and soulful subject be so bland and soul-less?
Mindy Smith's song about Jesus hits me far harder than anything else I've ever heard from those other types of artists. Am I alone here?
