In Prosecuter Vincent Bugliosi's book, he paints Manson in an honest way - admitting that Charles Manson, while deranged, was brilliant. Some of the court testimony show Manson talking with the judge and prosecuters, and you see Manson in a calm, intelligent state.

It's been awhile since I've seen the movie based on this great book (I've ordered it, and should get it soon), but from what I remember, the movie shows Manson as a maniacal clown in the court room.

What are the overall opinions of the book vs the movie?
