Since Kill Bill 2 R1 will be available on August 10th, has there been any news of this being released elsewhere? Another Japanese liimited edition?

What no one has bought up is if there is another version of Kill Bill 2 available thats a different cut than the US one, like there was with Volume 1's differing US/Japanese cuts.

I don't really know but IMDB does not have the "alternate versions" link available for Vol 2. When Vol 1 was released into theaters the alternate versions link was active(and still is) and explained the differences in the U.S. cut and the Japanese cut. That would lead me to believe there is no different versions of Vol2. I could be wrong, though.

You would think, with a lot of the alternate cuts not even being about violence (some were just camera angles), there would be some sort of differences for Vol 2. It just seems strange that he did all sorts of alternate shots for Vol 1 and nothing for Vol 2.
Especially if those alternate shots were put together before the movie was cut into 2 parts.

I have not heard anything about an alternate Japanese cut for Vol 2, but then again, I don't know anyone who has seen both versions in order to compare. The differences in Vol 1 were well known even before the film's release, so if there is a different cut of Vol 2, it is so far, a well kept secret.
That said, I'm sure that there will be a limited edition of Vol 2 in Japan. The Japanese theatrical release of Vol 2 was about a week or two later than the US release, so it would be nice to see a Japanese DVD toward the end of August. But who knows, maybe Japan will stick to a more normal 6 month window for the DVD release, unlike here. Anyway, I'm on the official Japanese Kill Bill mailing list, so I'm sure that they will notify me as soon as a DVD release is announced, and I will be sure to post it here.

Has there been any announcements concerning a boxset like the Japanese Vol 1 set? Or about a combined 'ultimate' set?

Only that they are inevitable. We have no details and probably won't for at least three more months, by then, Miramax will have sucked every gold filling out of our teeth and will be after our family jewels. ;)

Due to complaints about the puny size of the Bearbrick figure included in the Vol 1 box set, the Vol 2 boxset will include a Kill Bill Bearbrick figure thats four times bigger!!
