I know it's hard to compare a the first season of one show with the 5th of another but I will be looking forward to the season premiere of Deadwood much more so than Sopranos.

I voted for Sopranos simply because it is still an amazing show. Deadwood is great, but it just hasn't been around long enough to be better.

Never have watched Sopranos, so I'm not sure if it would be fair for me to vote Deadwood simply because it's what I've seen...

Right now Deadwood is better. Comparing the current season of Deadwood with the first season of The Sopranos would be a very tough choice.

Seems like alot of praise for Deadwod. Are they going to replay the 1st episode or have a marathon? I havent seen it, but now Id like to check it out.

Sopranos is just.... amazing, Deadwood is great, but there just isn't the personal interest level of western/gold rush stuff compared to mobster. Also what I like more about the Sopranos is the cerebral stuff going on, like the dreams episode, Deadwood is purely plot based and Sopranos there's symbols and motifs and stuff like that which makes repeat viewings so much more interesting.

Exactly - this year of Deadwood was more interesting...but was it more interesting that the first season of The Sopranos? No. Can it keep up the quality and last for four or five more seasons? We'll see. Until Deadwood does that, The Sopranos will be the superior show.

Same opinion. Deadwood was a much better show this season, but I don't think it stacks up with S1 or S2. The Sopranos ends in S6, so if Deadwood reaches that milestone, we'll be able to compare better.
