Samsung HLP Models?
I was very close to plunking down for the Samsung 61" HLN617W with DLP, until another thread here mentioned the upcoming HLP models. The AVSForum has a really good deal running on those, although there's no definite ship date for them yet.
My main requirements for a TV are (1) biggest I can afford and (2) slimmest I can afford (my GF says we can spend twice as much money as long as I don't bring home a mammoth 175 lb. monster). I don't play games, I mostly watch cable (will get HDTV with a new set) and DVDs.
Anyone know why I should wait for the new HLP sets?
Despite all my best research, I'm still hazy about the details of LCD vs. DLP vs. HLP. I'm shying away from the Sony LCDs because of the longevity issues.

The HLP is a model #, not a technology like DLP or LCD. The HLP is just this years models.
The reasons to wait for the HLP models are
A. Higher contrast ratio
B. Better black levels
C. The HD2+ models will do 1080P instead of 720P
Hope this helps.
