Battle of the Skinny White Boys - Fatboy Slim vs. Moby
For some reason, I pulled out my FBS and Moby records and started giving them a spin.
I like FBS alot more. I couldn't say exactly why, but I think he just has a better feel.
Who do you like better?

I like FBS's music better also - but as a guitar player, I'd have to go Moby, since he's a classically trained guitar player. FBS just kind of plays bass (he played bass for the Housemartins).

I prefer Moby. And I remember the housemartins.
Even have them on my Ipod. Caravan of Love.
Although I prefered the beautiful south.
But yes Moby over Fatboy, more for the melodic stuff he does.

Moby plays all the guitars on his albums that aren't samples. A stand-out track would be SouthSide's guitar solo - it's not exemplary work or anything, but it's a good electric guitar solo. I don't think he's done anything that shows off his classical skills, as his music doesn't really call for it.
Moby also does more straightforward songs, whereas FBS is basically a glorified DJ.
But I think FBS would KILL Moby in a fight.

They are technically in two different sub-genres of techno.
Fatboy Slim did mostly Big Beat techno, which was really catchy dance musing usign a lot of samples that created well, big beats.
Moby has done punk, ambient, trance, and now electronica sort of. It's hard to classify Moby's Play and 18 work since they are electronic due the use of samples, but sound like soul and gospel.

I don't much care for either of them, but I've always liked "Rain Falls and Sky Shudders" by Moby. It always chills me right out. The sound of the rain reminds me of the Doors' "Riders on the Storm".

Moby, hands down. His music is more expansive than FBS. I particularly love Everything Is Wrong. "Hymn" and "God Moving Over the Face of the Waters" always get to me. My girlfriend and I have discussed working some of his music into our wedding when we get married.

I loved FBS until I realized the party was kinda over. Now, even though I still have all my FBS see dees, it's starting to sound a lot like disco to me (no offense, I kinda like some of that ol' school 70's disco). But no problem, I can always groove to Amon Tobin

Who was the original "thin white boy"? Sinatra or Bowie?

FBS can make some pretty rocking tunes, but overall, Moby makes better music.
FBS is an artist. The Neptunes are producers.
However, the Neptunes have a side project called N.E.R.D., and while they don't sound like FBS, they're good in their own way.
N.E.R.D. songs to listen to:
"Breakout"
"Maybe"
"Provider"
"Lapdance"
"The Way She Dances"
"Things Are Getting Better"
