Granted, its not the gospel, but IMDB says its so:

"Robert Rodriguez scored this movie for $1. Quentin Tarantino said he would repay him by directing a segment of Rodriguez's project Sin City (2005) for $1."

IMDB.com (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0378194/trivia)

Found this one too, doesn't mention the $1, but its close:

"Quentin (Tarantino) usually never uses a composer. And then when he does, who does he hire? Another director. (laughs) I knew of "Kill Bill" back in 1994, when we were working on (1995's) "Four Rooms" together ... he put it aside for so long, I thought he would never make the movie. So when he finally did, I told him I wanted to be part of it some how. I made him a deal. I said to him: "I'll write the music for nothing. If you want it, you can keep it; if you don't, well it will be good practice for me!"

Hollywood Reporter (http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/thr/music/feature_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1000491393)

Here's another if you can believe The Houston Chronicle:

"Madsen also hopes to act in the crime drama Sin City for Texas filmmaker Robert Rodriguez, whom Tarantino credits as "my brother" in Kill Bill's end-credits. (Rodriguez composed music for Vol. 2, charging Tarantino $1.)"

Houston Chronicle (http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/ae/movies/jump/2510778)

I remember reading that recently, that's pretty cool.

This is common knowledge since it's so recent, but I like the bit about James Cavaziel getting struck by lightning on the set of The Passion of the Christ.

I always found this a bit freaky:

Directed by Roman Polanski, whose pregnant wife, the actress Sharon Tate, was in 1969 murdered by Charles Manson and his followers, who titled their death spree "Helter Skelter" after the 1968 song by The Beatles, whose leader, John Lennon, who would one day live (and in 1980 be murdered) in the Manhattan apartment building called The Dakota---where Rosemary's Baby had been filmed.

Alternate Ending to "Alien"

from IMDB (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0078748/trivia) (yeah, yeah, I know)

Ridley Scott is reportedly quoted as saying that originally he wanted a much darker ending. He planned on having the alien bite off Ripley's head in the escape shuttle, sit in her chair, and then start speaking with her voice in a message to Earth. Apparently, 20th Century Fox wasn't too pleased with such a dark ending.

Yeesh. That's a weird one.

One of my favorites is how Jack Nicholson, on the set of Easy Rider, claimed to have smoked 155 joints while filming the campfire scene. There's also one incident that happened around the same time where Nicholson and Dennis Hopper stared at LSD-induced bugs at a graveyard for hours and then fell asleep in a tree.

Another one I remembered about Nicholson. Apparently there was a woman who had sex with Nicholson, Warren Beatty, and Robert Evans all on the same day. Beatty got last dibs, and he was informed Jack was already at a certain area. Initially repulsed and angered by the information, he then (most likely in a coke-fueled daze) laughed about it and went on with the deed.

from the "From Russia With Love" trivia
Years earlier, Alfred Hitchcock was originally considered as director, with James Bond being played by Cary Grant and Grace Kelly lured out of retirement to play Tatiana Romanova. These ideas were scrapped after Vertigo (1958) failed at the box office. The helicopter chase scene is a homage to Hitchcock's cropduster sequence in North by Northwest (1959).That would have been interesting for sure as its one of my fave bond movies

Not movies, but TV:

Some of my animation teachers worked on the original 1969 Scooby Doo, Where Are You? TV series, and most of the team was STONED when making that show.

Which explains A LOT.

This seems like an appropriate place to mention something I noticed recently.

I was surprised to see M. Night Shyamalan's name pop up in the credits for Stuart Little (screenplay).

And both R2D2 and C3PO appear in Raiders of the Lost Ark. They even included them on the new Raiders Lego set.

the voice that says: "The first transport.....is away! The first transport....is away!" is actually MARK HAMILL'S voice.

Thought this was interesting from IMDb about Groundhog Day

On the DVD, 'Harold Ramis' states that the original idea was for him to live February 2nd for about 10,000 years. Later he says that Phil probably lived the same day for about 10 years.

We know how to piss off Bob De Niro in 30 seconds (http://www.youtube.com/v/uxCUBU0n_XU), but it's always amazing to see him get pissed and disgusted (Within 5 seconds) when Chris Walken does his unplanned "Spitting act" on him in The Deer Hunter.

Not Actual Trivia, but I have noticed:

In Forrest Gump:
Gump tells LT. Dan that he is going to be a shrimp boat captain. LT. Dan laughs and tells Gump that he is going to be an astronaunt. The next time these two actors are in a movie togther, they are both astronaunts.

Speaking as someone who has Crohn's disease, I really appreciate the well-known bit about Harrison Ford's digestive issues being responsible for Indiana Jones simply shooting the Cairo swordsman in "Raiders of the Lost Ark."

I also enjoy knowing that in "Star Trek V: The FInal Frontier," the name Sha Ka Ree (an alias of God) is derived from the name Sean Connery. Connery had been approached to play Spock's half-brother Sybok, but was already committed to shooting "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" and "The Hunt for Red October." When this casting fell through, according to director William Shatner, Paramount lost its interest in backing the film and greatly reduced its budget.

Did you know they actually filmed part of the fight?

Lucas is no doubt waiting to release all Indy and SW deleted scenes on some super-deluxe release for both series at some point in the future to milk every last dime.

Another really cool trivia bit that I'm surprised more don't know about, though it's not really movie-related, is that Harrison Ford was the person working the lights at The Doors' famous Hollywood Rose Bowl concert in the Summer of 1968. Anyone who's seen that show, which as far as I know is still only available on VHS, should remember the part at the beginning of "The End" where Jim Morrison asks that the lights be dimmed for that one song and actually demands "Hey Mr. lightman! Turn the lights down!".

I don't know if this is cool or funny, but the theme music for People's Court originated from a chase scene at the end of the trash "classic" Malibu High. Another sound effect repeatedly used to ridiculous effect in that movie was later used to back some kind of TV logo, but I can't pinpoint it although it's very well-known (maybe SCTV?).

whats even better is apparently he wasn't cast because the producers didn't believe he'd be believable as a killer
